RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

Hi all,
I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.
Everyone is welcome!
I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.
This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.
So, I hope it catches on !
So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

And I was just gonna brag about my win today
Dear Entrant:
CONGRATULATIONS! We have exciting news for you! Your entry in the Firestone Destination America Promotion has been selected as a potential Daily Prize winner. It is our pleasure to inform you that you have won:
A $70 MASTERCARD GIFT CARD.
This is just hearsay, but I was right the last time I predicted the last contest.
Worst case, 3wks. (my guess again)
I really hope they go back to their old ways of contests.
Although I heard there will never be another "Outwit" one
I'm pretty sure that is because too many people play these contests now and complain/argue their answers.
There was also a lot of unbridled greed in that and other contests, it is sad that a few people ruin it for all...too bad that fair share is not enough for them.
Yep...it's me!
I found out I won the Camp Coleman Sweepstakes by telephone on June 1st at 7:30 in the morning. Since I wasn't quite awake, I wasn't sure if I was dreaming.
The winner had the choice of camping at a campground in California, Pennsylvania, Missouri or Colorado. To get the cash prize, I was required to go on the camping trip and invite three family members or friends. I googled up Bear Creek Lake Park campground in Colorado, and it is about a 15 minute drive from where I grew up and went to high school. Since I was going to be in Colorado the week prior, it was obviously my choice. It was sort of a scramble to figure out and coordinate two trips in a short amount of time. Hubby said he could not miss any more time off work, so I invited my two sisters and brother in law on the campout.
Yesterday I asked the Coleman people if I could tell anyone, since they had not yet announced it on their facebook page. Up until then, the only people who knew, were my family, my boss and a couple of co-workers. Coleman said, "Announce away..."
I'll stay with my sister again for several days until the campout. Hubby will be flying back home directly after the Aspen trip and I will be heading back to the mile high city as one HAPPY CAMPER! OMG!

Mind you, I love all my relatives dearly, but some people are truly strange. My niece mentioned to her brother and his wife how her kids and her other brother's kids had gotten shoes. Of course the ones who got shoes were all teenagers, and this particular brother's children are ages like 3 and 5.
They were upset that their children weren't "on the list." So when the Eastbay GC arrived (only $50), my sister and I agreed that we'd give it to the kids who hadn't been on the list before. But I mean, really --- we're talking little kids here. Kids who will outgrow their shoes in a few months. But the parents were hurt that their kids were excluded. And these aren't poor people who are scrounging for money to clothe their children. I guess it's the principle of the thing -- or something.
I told my sister to lie like a rug. Tell them that the shoes were allocated according to age and as theirs were the youngest, they were, unfortunately, the last. And as it turns out, with one exception, the shoes were given in order of age.
People's feelings get hurt over the silliest things. And as the kids involved are my sister's grandchildren, she feels bad about it. We can't have that, of course, hence the GC going to Sacramento.
But now that it's sorted out, we can all breathe easier and get on with our lives. So now, I'm doing well.
And thank you for asking. My feelings would have been hurt if you hadn't.

Now don't spend it all in one place, Gary.

We don't seem to get credit for what we do do, only blame for what we don't. I'd like to just scream, "If you want shoes, enter your own contests!" but I don't. Maybe next time.
