I was at Costco yest (1600 Expo Parkway,Sacramento, CA) yesterday and bought 4 Johnnie Walker Blue Label for $119.99 each.
There is no limit, you can buy as many as you want.
This deal ends 06/08 i.e., tomorrow.
Regular price(146.99) - Instant Rebate at Checkout($27) = $119.99 + Tax.
Regularly, I pay $150 Cash at a liquor store for this. This is a good deal if you like Blue Label.
I might go today again and stock some more.

I wish I could get Laga for less than $80. I can't even find it around where I live, I have to remember to stop at a store whehn I'm on a trip and smuggle it accross the line.
A recommendation for keeping your rarely opened scotches fresh is to get a can of Private Preserve. It contains mostly inert gases to push O2 out.
Stupid Virginia and it's lack of liquor in Costco. Not just for the Blue, but also these prices for Oban and Lagavulin I am seeing. I'd probably skip the Blue for those, although Blue is a nice drink when I don't have to pay retail/bar prices for it. No Costco booze and a lack of scotch selection in the state run liquor stores stink, but at least the ABC stores aren't scummy looking like some of the liquor stores back in NY. Luckily the guy across the street from my parents owns a liquor store and is a scotch connoisseur, so I just stop into his place when I go visit and smuggle a few bottles back to VA.

Me too. Gold was one of those weird ones that's meant to be served chilled. I didn't hate it but I'd never order it. Green had a great smooth and flavorful taste. I'm gonna have to start hoarding bottles whenever I see them. Of course, just because it's discontinued doesn't mean that it's forever. Hell, Green was never even meant for American markets, but once it got out and there was demand, they brought it over.
great price on blue label if u like blue label. its a great blended whiskey as blended whiskeys go. this does make a special occasion great gift for a boss or somebody. I would buy this. Do I need a costco card to buy liquer ? thx
My daily dram is the GlenDronach 15 (even though I also have the 12, 18, 21 and the 1995 vintage cask strength also). I tend to lean away from the more main stream brands.
Great thread. JW Blue if u ask me is the smoothest and easiet to drink whisky out there. I was introdued to scotch with JW Blue and unfortunely been hooked since. I remember 10 years ago, i could pick up a bottle at any duty free airport for 80 bucks and the 1 liter for 120 (which taste even BETTER btw yes there is a difference). And then JW popularity skyrocket and their price go up every 6 month. You used to be able to pick up a black bottle for 25 bucks and red for 15 bucks 10 years ago.
Chivas Royal Salute special mention and fond memories of this. I almost enjoy this more than i enjoy JW Blue.
There are mentions of some great bottles here; Oban, Lagavulin, Highland Park, etc. all great whiskeys and with their distinctive taste. However, I would suggest beginners stay away from Single Malt till they learn to enjoy scotch. I think this is what most people mean when they say "aquired" taste and down the single malt the first time.
Another distillery I haven't seen mentioned here but would recommend is Springbank. I recently tried their 10 or 15 (can't seem to remember, although I think it was the 10) and was very impressed. Really good stuff.
Didn't see Glengoyne mentioned. Very small single-malt Scotch whiskey distillery in Scotland. They have a 17-year-old that is fantastic. It does NOT have the awful peat taste. Tried it when I was there last month and absolutely loved it.

Correct... the liquor store part of the Costco is a separate entrance and you don't need a card to buy, at least the ones in NJ
This is true for the Costco in Brick, NJ but not for the one in Edison. In Edison, all the booze is located within the store itself, and requires membership.

I love the green. To me it was better than gold.

12: Original
15: Revival
18: Allardice
21: Parliament
I think GlenDronach's sweet spot is the 15 or 18. The 21 is a bit overpowering and I find myself turning to the 15 and 18 more often.
Then again, I love the 1995 vintage. Cask strength and in PX sherry casks.
