New car shopping :whee:

There is at most a 50/50 chance we'll buy something this year, but we hadn't driven any new cars in almost five years so we thought we'd check some out.

Wife drives an '08 VW Eos - that's the car we would replace. Shockingly, it has been a very reliable car, and has only 36k miles on it. So we're in no hurry to sell it. But we decided to drive a couple of cars today, just for kicks: an Infiniti G37 and a Lexus IS350 and IS250. As expected the Lexus was a bit more sedate, but more fun than to drive than expected. Wife prefers the IS350 to the G37...

We would most likely buy a late model used, around a '10 model. I love my '06 TL and so does my wife, so we would also drive an Acura before making any decision (though we're not driving the new butt-ugly TL - it would be a TSX, or even the new ILX if we bought new).

What other comparable cars should we try?

A new candidate... '08 Infiniti EX35.
Wife liked driving it...exterior style is probably "meh" at best
I looked at the EX as well in my search. I liked everything with it except the rear view visibility.

Once the GF said that she wanted an SUV/Crossover as her next car I took it off the table as I don't like large(ish) vehicles, and I was just looking at it for the ability to tow a small boat or other such things.

We drove an RX330...it's nice for an SUV. If we were to get an SUV, we'd most likely get a smaller one like an Acura RDX or a BMW X3. Though my wife's ears perked up when she heard about the F-Sport RX.
Volvo XC90. We drove the X3, the VW Tiguan and the RX330 and a used XC90 won. It's a little more "sloppy" to drive, but who gives a rip in the dead of winter in MN with 8" of snow and your ass needs to get somewhere! woot

I certainly would. Why would I want a sloppier handling vehicle in poor conditions? Confused

No, it's excellent in poor driving conditions, "sloppy" compared directly to something like the X3 on dry pavement.

Awww! But they're so cute! Besides, they probably fold up and fit in your backpack. Imagine the money you could save in parking fees! laugh out loud
