I must ask though - where did you get the purple BM dresses? BM Dress searching has been super hard Faint ....
i got them from a bridal store. unfortunately they are out of your 50-100 budget. they were special order bill levkoff dresses (same company as porda's bm dress for the wedding from hell)... i was able to bargain with a chinese place to get 3 for 400, but this was probably bc i ordered my wedding dress from there as well. 1 of the dresses didn't fit so that bm ended up buying another one a few weeks before the wedding, for 200. they normally run 150-200 depending on the store.

it's fall - there should be a lot more purple dresses! i will keep an eye out for some for you - what are the sizes/shapes of the girls in your party? and do any of them have any limitations on what they won't wear? (some of my girls were picky, which is why i went for the 3 different dresses look - but i think it turned out really well) the good thing about buying off the rack is you can really buy them late - no need to order them 3-4 months in advance like for BM dress companies.

Ohh yeah, definitely out of our budget. I was hoping that you could recommend me some cheap Chinese places! hehe!

Would you recommend the Pasadena Bride expo? She wanted to go and now she doesn't because she thinks she'll get nothing out of it except for more ideas. I remember you said there was cake? (!!!)

Yeah, I'm really surprised the fall colors are not featuring a lot of purple. The girls and I were praying for some more purple as the season continues.
There's 4 of us: 1. me - small waist, big hips, 2. A girl that's a bit skinnier than me, about my height, seems kind of straight, but with some booty 3. A girl that is a bit larger than I am, I would say a size 8? With hips that she said she wants to minimize. 4. MOH - boy figure and tall-ish.
The girls and I want a dress we can re-wear since we are paying for it and do not want to do any alterations because it will only add to the cost. Our budget with everything cannot exceed $100. We will all be wearing the same dress.

The restrictions are: Sweetheart neckline, a-line, knee length, no rosettes, ruching, embellishments, must have some sort of straps (halter, or shoulder - can't be spaghetti)

These are the color restrictions:
Bride's favorite dress in the correct purple color [amazon.com]
Darker purple [promgirl.com]
Vibrant Purple [simplydresses.com]
This in grape [alfredangelo.com]. Bride said she liked this style although she said dress must be hemmed straight and needs straps, so er, yeah.
She really likes this, but wants us to hem the hi-lo skirt [amazon.com]
She also likes this one, but feels it's too plain and needs a fancy brooch [amazon.com]
She likes this, but is too large based on reviews. Said we can have it taken it to seamstress [amazon.com]
She also likes this, but the bust will have to be taken in for all the girls [amazon.com]

I'm kind of getting frustrated because we're being presented with all these ideas, but NONE of them fit her restrictions. And we can't really re-wear them, except maybe a few? I don't even know if I should respond to her email yet and wait for the other girls to? It's like making this hard. I wish she would just tell us what dress in what style and color to buy. Faint Sorry - this is making me stressed out when I have stuff other than this to focus on and the bride is indecisive and MOH sister is not helping - just shrugging her shoulders.

I didn't buy anything from Express tick-tock. There wasn't anything I liked that I didn't already have. They need to put some of the winter stuff on the next one.

the bridal shows are fun, but you don't actually get too much out of them imo. you get to see a nice selection of photographers, photo booths, vendors in a confined space, but i didn't find any vendors at any of the shows i went to. plus, you get spammed by them... so in retrospect i should not have given my real info, ugh. yes, there is cake at some but it's pretty easy to set up cake tasting - just call a few places. do you know where they are looking (the general city/vicinity)? i loved my cake place - they were awesome and it was delicious. plus, they are pretty reasonably priced.

for the bride's ideas - this is really difficult, but unfortunately you will most likely not be able to rewear your dress, especially if it's royal purple. one suggestion though - will your bride be using an accent color? i don't know if you remember but i was a little bummed that i didn't think to put the girls in grey dresses (my accent color) with purple flowers. i think that would have looked beautiful, and a grey dress is worlds easier to rewear than a purple one. in general, any brightly colored BM dress will most likely never get worn again. once you get that idea out of your head, it will make the search (and all of your lives) that much easier. everyone wants to buy a dress that can be reworn. but at the end of the day, it isn't practical, unless everyone uses black as their color.

that said, david's bridal often has sales. but i think it'd be cheaper to find a dress at express or something like that. or have you looked at target? they actually have very affordable bridesmaid dresses, and i believe it's the same return policy as their other dresses. there are some purple ones [target.com] there and they're all 70 and under.

one option: convertible dresses [victoriassecret.com] - some love it, some hate it - just thought i'd throw that out there.

Thanks for the Target rec! I've sent that to the bride. Maybe she will see something she likes.

At this point, I'm fine with whatever she finds. She sent another email with another entirely new variation of dresses. Mad Then when I think the color she likes works and then agree with her, she goes, "well, it ACTUALLY has a blue tone." WTF?!?! So it SOUNDS like she doesn't want her "perfect color dress" anymore. This whole thing is getting too complicated. And I'm just not going to put in any more effort regarding the dresses. I'm done. I'm okay with whatever she wants and if it ends up that she wants us to buy something that I think is ugly, then I'll just try to resell it. I'm just not going to care anymore and try to find ones that flatter everyone's shape. She can find whatever, and if the other BMs get mad at her for an ugly dress or makes them look fat, then so be it.

I just think that her and MOH and another bridesmaid are really expecting us to fork out too much not only with this, but everything else. ESPECIALLY MOH. She was telling us our Bridal shower ideas are not good enough and that we should spend more (!!!). I feel like there's only one other sane BM with regard to costs. So if this dress ends up being a headache, I'm just going to cut elsewhere. I just want one thing now - that it is comfortable. My best friend told me that I will just be running around everywhere and just be comfortable. That's all I'm asking for.

I had forgotten about the convertible dresses. But she wants short dresses...that eggplant is pretty though.

No, I don't know where they are looking. I know it's going to be in LA somewhere. Probably not Orange. They were looking to be around Burbank, but I think they've since expanded. I've seen them look at some things at Santa Monica? So I'm really not sure. She has not updated us on her venue search and I don't know if anywhere is open for April for a budget wedding. Frankly, I don't care about her venues anymore either and she can just tell us what she picked. I'm sure she can get the cake stuff figured out on her own. I bet she doesn't know what she wants and I don't want to have anymore to do with any part of it! laugh out loud shake head My coordinator friend is right - laid back brides who don't know what they want is more difficult to work with!

I think I'm just gonna chill out now and just let things roll. I have more important things to do!

Yep! I remember you wanting the grey dress instead. I think it turned out beautifully anyway!

Sorry for the rant. I think I just realized how incredibly frustrated I am getting with these things as more and more crazy emails I keep getting. I think I will lay low now.
