What type of base coat, polish, & top coat do you all recommend for a long lasting manicure? I've read gel & shellac polishes are good. Any recommendations? We'll be gone 15 nights, 16 days on our anniversary trip. I'd like to only paint my nails before leaving home, if possible. I suppose I could redo them, if I must. Also, what colors should I use on my fingers & toes? What goes with everything? My DH prefers a red shade on my toes, but I'm not sure if that will go with everything. I have Zoya Mieko http://www.zoya.com/content/38/it...Mieko.html that he also likes. What do you think about that color on my toes?
Going to second the other girls on a deep red. I use Essie Scarlet O'Hara (I love the book + movie too!!) [essie.com] on toes when I want a nice red.

I usually try to match hands and toes, but I usually do not paint my hands. If I do, I do French or just another color I'd like. Preferably dark plum or something dark because it works well with my skin tone.

I think any Ice/Sheer color works too. I'd go with something on this page [essie.com]

i love dark vampy finger nails too!! it must be our skin tone. bounce tho currently i'm rocking a light warm grey (deborah lippmann waking up in vegas... loving it)

i don't try to match tho. i tend to do something classic on hands (usually red) and something fun/crazy on hands. i got SO MANY compliments when i used a bright warm yellow. i'm not really sure why - maybe it was kuz i was in ny and no one there really does bright colors. i got comments everywhere i went.

Probably true! I remember when I was in middle school, I used to paint my nails a dark cherry brown and I got asked all the time if I had fake nails!! I square them too, so I guess it looks like it could be?

Grey doesn't work for me! Probably cause I pick a cool grey? I don't know, grey, dusty blue or dusty plum or dusty anything, or periwrinkle clothes make me look really really ashy.

I do the opposite of you! I do crazy colors on toes usually when I'm not planning to go to events or anything. I do this so I don't worry about clashing with my clothes! I'm using Essie Azure blue now.

oh yeah, this is one of the few greys that works, bc it's a very warm toned grey. i love that it's a grey i can use! i absolutely LOVE baby blues, but i can't use them. it makes me so sad. i'm not a huge fan of dusty plums either.

i found this [pinterest.com] on pinterest that i thought you might like. also, thought this [weddingbee.com] was pretty funny. Coverlaugh i was like, is that you?? laugh out loud

Thanks for the Pinterest. The bride just rejected all of the other two bridesmaid's suggestions. Which I thought worked because we agreed on a style. I told the bride our preferences/criteria yesterday.

Then she replied to their email asking if the criteria was "frumpy" Mad

Then she had told us a list of David's Bridal and Alfredo Angelo dresses she wants us to try on. They were almost all tea length which we all hate had ruching which we don't want and or a gigantic fugly bow taking up half the dress. Yep. Don't think I can wear the dress again.

Sent a separate email to other two BMs and just said I'm out of this dress discussion with the bride. They can just let me know what they are considering and I'll check it out cause they seem to be on the same page.

Haha!! That so was not me! Purple seems like a hard color!!!

EEK! I just care about trying on the dresses, kinda. Anything else, the bride can deal with regarding her dress

It is a good place to buy because of price. I wouldn't go on the weekend if you can avoid it and don't let them do your alterations.

I think the Scarlet O'Hara is something like my DH had in mind. I'm kind of afraid it will be too dark for my ghostly skin. What do you think? There was a sheer polish that I liked, but it's not available online. At least, I now have an idea of what to look for. Now, I need a Zoya & Essie deal.

The Sunray Rib Cover-up in Bordeaux Blue is a beautiful color http://www.express.com/sunray-rib...pro#jsLink. I don't really have anything to wear it with, but it's too pretty to return. I guess I'll have to buy something to wear with it now. Teehee

We're going on the weekend, unfortunately. At a super busy place in the heart of LA. Le Sigh. I hope no alterations will be needed and definitely won't let them do mine!

I honestly think that it will work with any skin. Would you be able to make it out to a Sephora to try on some nail color in those shades?

Do you have a CVS by you? Sometimes they have 25% off purchase coupons and you can use that to get the Essie polish, but it's not too bad, around $8.50 is what I usually pay.

Thanks! I'm really trying for an A. If I earn an A then I will have completed with exactly a 3.0 but a
B will drop be down below that. I only have about 3 points worth of wiggle room right now unless she decides to curve the midterm. The class average was a 60%. I got a 67% and studied harder than I have in a long time because I really want this A. When I asked she said she wasn't going to though. Frown
