RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Have a recipe that you like ? I'm thinking I'm just going to butter it, with some spices and either grill or broil it.

Rough evening, morning getting better....

One of my kittens,Petey, went from having a little cough to severe respiratory distress last night...Had to rush him to vet.

Put in oxygen, fluids, etc....he was doing a bit better when I left...talked to vet this morning and seems even better this morning. He was getting ready to take him out of oxygen and see how he does.

Blood work and tests aren't showing anything conclusive, a little off on a liver test. He's gonna call later this afternoon to let me know how he does off the oxygen and what the situation is.

Just hoping to get the little sh*t home with his brother soon. Petey is the white face.
Hope Petey is home and doing well soon!

Purina has the free dog and cat food daily giveaway going on again:
https://www.pureloveforpets.com/Default.aspx
You can enter for both. Last year, the 1st 1000 people to enter for each one at noon won the daily prize. I don't know if it is the same this year, but it won't hurt to try. Won the Beneful dog food and 2 cans of Fancy Feast coupons.

Glad to hear that things are a little better, the weather won't help.
My peppers aren't producing right now, the blossoms drop and nothing, even with watering 2 and 3 times daily. 4 peppers so far.
Cucumbers are starting to set. I picked the first one last week and will have another ready in a day or two. About a dozen that are 3 inches long and more that are smaller. The largest one is on the clematis trellis and looks funny hanging down.
Tomatoes(I'm growing the little patio ones-purple and a red "volunteer') are doing great. Just started to be able to pick 2-5 per day. The purple are very sweet.

It's a bad year, with this heat, for not only backyard gardeners but also for farmers. I too have been watering 2 - 3 times a day. We can all expect to see prices of produce and almost everything else climb by the end of the year. I'm picking a few tomatoes here and there,, usually I'm giving them away by this time. Have some nice yellow bells coming on but not quite ready to pick. Looks like I have lots of hot wax on the plants, but again, all small and nothing ready to pick

I've never did the cedar plank thing, but it's popular around here too. What I like is to season, add some slices of onion, some garlic, a slice or 2 of bacon and wrap it all up in foil on the grill..... dammit, now I'm really hungry for fish and I'm making BLTs today

if I don't use bacon, on the plank I season s&p garlic and tarragon and top it with thin slices of lemon

I wrap salmon or snapper in foil and use s&p sliced onion a thin slice of an orange and a thin slice of lemon
and poach it on the grill
most fish can be done like this

hungry too off for some chili
