RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Thanks, Woke up, Pete was up on bed sleeping with me.....looks a bit brighter. Still won't eat the soft food from vets, so gave him some of his cat treats, which are semi soft.(not too much)

I have a stand type feeder, which will hold about 50 pounds of food, and it will self-feed.
No door on it to stop them from getting in to eat......I threw some books across the food last night so Petey wouldn't get up in the night and eat the hard food....this morning he has gotten up and nudged them aside to get to it. Good sign I think

Will have to tackle getting the medicine down his throat pretty soon.

Morning FF.

waveMorning Dabbs, Just made a post about Petey.....

Win something today, will ya?
May be on a special diet because his kidneys are in trouble. If so cook a little chicken and add some white rice or white bread even. add a little of the broth to make it moist. If he likes any kind of veggie you can add just a little. He'll love it and its healthy for him

That's a good sign that he dug in there to get to his regular food. Good Luck on getting the pills down him. I've tried that scene man LOL. I walked away bleeding and he stood there like; C'mon fkr, Try it againBig Grin
This is how I have always given pills to my cats. Only thing I do different is make sure to have a moist treat ready when its done so they get distracted and associate pills with a good experience. Every time I take a pill they all come running!!! Stupid druggie cats!!! laugh out loud http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSxjeAMuTEI

No, he just wanted him to ease back into his regular food. I talked to him this morning and he said, go ahead and let him eat whatever he wants, just so he's eating.

Don't really know if he likes vegetables, I don't generally feed the animals table foods.

Congratulations to you both! Sprokitz, glad to hear that the cold is better. That sounds like the summer flu that I had earlier this season. It goes away graaaadually.

I saw on the contest board that the Purina IWG was starting to have winners after 9am, so gave it a try. Lost on the dog, but won the bag of Cat Chow coupon!
Good Luck to all!

When I was on the phone with him yesterday he asked me if I thought I could pill a cat.....he said he'd hold off on his meds, until I picked him up, and the girls could show me how they do it.

I did put my flannel shirt on, and wrapped him in a towel...wasn't too bad....but each day as he gets better, it will probably get harder. Dreading tonights pill....but vet said he thought it would be more effective.
Great to hear that Petey's eating AND that you were able to get the liquid down him (at least most). Hopefully Petey will be feeling better as the day goes on. Eating is a very good sign.hug

When ours dont feel good I make them special food. They dont eat our food but I will make them something. Its called RAW feeding. Cant remember what it stands for but its basically fresh meat with easily digested vegies and rice or potatoes. It has to be in the right balance to be healthy but theres no preservatives and the quality of food is better. Some dogs have allergies and cant eat regular canned food or dry and this works well for them. Sons dog has a fickle belly sometimes and so does my sisters 2 boxers from time to time. When they start eating grass I make them something and they feel better. Its kinda what Rachael Rays dog food is based on and some of the newer doggie dinners in the tin. I draw the line at buying them doggie ice cream though!!! They do get yogurt sometimes. It helps with their digestion. Or as Jamioe Lee Curtis says "Makes ya poop!!" laugh out loud

LOL....I'm trying to get up my nerve....this morning just the liquid.....tonight, liquid and a pill....YIKES
If he cleans himself like a cat should put it on his front leg and he'll lick it off. Only 1 of ours licks. Boo and Angel dont care if the got dirty fannies!!! Baby Kitty goes and makes Mommy Mikie lick her!!! He has to nibble her fleas off of her too!!! Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
Pills are easy. They need to be on a floor or counter, anything hard and pet them first so they dont see it coming. Pry the mouth open and shove the pill in as far as possible, tip the head back holding the mouth shut, blow lightly on the nose and rub the throat. It makes them swallow whether or not they want to. Have something yummy for them so as soon as they swallow they can have something to forget what you did and then give him some love. Ive only had 1 cat give me problems and he was half wild to begin with..

Rub some bacon on it !!!!LMAOLMAO
Cats are smarter than that. Dogs will fall for it but a cat will like the bacon off and spit out the pill!!!! laugh out loud

I understand how to pill a cat......we did it at the vet's last night......2 of us. He wasn't really impressed and did spit it the 1st time....2nd time successful. But he's sick and didn't give too much a fight.

Tonight we be just me...we'll see how it goes....but he will take that pill downSmilie cause he needs it. They were impressed with him at the vets , how well he took the things they did to him. She said he laid there purring while she did stuff that usually takes 2 people. He's a good cat, has been handled a lot but doesn't mean he'll take it well

He normally cleans himself...but doesn't feel well enough yet......his brother's been cleaning him a little bit......he'll get back into it once he feels better.
