A brand new poster child for pathetic athletes

One of the worst examples of sportsmanship I've ever seen in my life.

Her coach should have smacked her upside the head.

I don't know the NBC commentator who jaw-jacked for 20 min before hand how Mrs Prissy Bitch was "so much better than everyone" else, but he should be fired immediately.

Not a shred of empathy for this over-privileged little sourpuss. What are you 9 years old? Try to remember this next time you fall flat on your ass: "gracious in victory, humble in defeat."

In the end, she won a medal. For those that keeps repeating that she trained for her entire life and didn't get gold... she got a medal, if she didn't get a medal at all and acted the way she did, I think I can empathize. nod

Sure she's human, has emotions... save it for later. Especially when you want those damn sponsors. The moment the media spins it around like this...what would she be remembered for? The silver medal or the reaction? Probably the reaction...
I don't think it has anything to do with the medal. I think it has everything to do with she didn't do the best that she can do. I'd be mad at myself, too.

She had an opportunity to show the world she was the complete Olympic-caliber person and she blew it. All that time and effort lost cause she could not handle reality. Even if she stuck the landing and got a perfect "10" and still acted like a 9 year old my position would not change.
.
Why are you trying to force everyone that loses to smile? What's the big deal?
There's this culture now of false optimism (I guess because the "American empire" is going down the toilet, so we need to delude ourselves).
Why should anyone be forced to display a fake emotion or fake gratitude for "just being able to be there".

She earned her spot in the Olympics through hard work. She had high expecations for herself.
She's disappointed in herself (not anyone else)

Geez, I wonder if anyone here has ever made a mistake that bummed them out? I'm guesing everyone has and they haven't greeted the world with a smile.

lol the brat lost. Love watching the replay of her falling flat on her ass every time.

Show some humility and compassion to the other gymnasts who trained just as hard to get into the Olympics. Save the pouting in private.

They showed a segment on NBC tonight about some great examples of sportsmanship at the Olympics.

This was not one of them.

I think my favorite was when runner Kirani James from Grenada exchanged name tags with the double-amputee Oscar Pistorius from South Africa after Kirani won a race.

I don't get it, did she have the scowl on the entire time she was on the podium? Just looks like trying to scratch your nose without hands to me.

WTH are you talking about? When did I say she *should* have smiled? Confused I pretty much guarantee that I would have not smiled right away either. She was shocked, stunned, mortified, etc....ie not in a happy place.

Tell you what though, if I had a shred of decency and respect for the competition who outperformed and rightfully won the gold I would have snapped out of it, congratulated them (like I actually meant it), bowed to the crowd who came out to see me and accept the praise from the other competitor who was trying to give it to me because I did deserve it. I could have rallied like an Olympian. Wooops.

The modern olympic games were not created for winners and losers. There was no vision of some idiotic medal count. Miss McKayla and her little pouty face sulk is a perfect example of what it was never supposed to be. You do understand there were no Olympics for 1500 years until de Coubertin restored it (after a lot of persistance). I'm sure he had brilliant visions of someone like her taking a crap all over it. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

City of Austin employees are donating hundreds of backpacks and tons of school supplies to AISD students in need! This is the 7th consecutive Build A Backpack campaign led by City employees, who donated more than 550 backpacks in 2011. McKayla is not impressed, but we think it is pretty amazing!

If a man wins gold is it the same as a woman winning silver?
