Dog chew toys that don't get them in trouble: Add your dog's favorites! (Thanks, daisee)

1. Fun stuff
- We leave empty cardboard boxes for the dogs to chew up. Also these loofah bones (cleans their teeth while they rip them apart) and TONS of cat toys (with catnip). (from veritableqndry)

2. Hard-to-destroy stuff

-At dollar tree they carry "milkbone" toys... she beats the hell out of them and still they hold up. (not to mention their only a buck if they destroy them) (from wakethewicked2)

- I've had good luck with these -- the avatar dog has destroyed everything but this kind. They come in different sizes and shapes and you can put treats inside for them to dig out: http://www.petmountain.com/produc...-kong.html . I get mine at a local farm store, but I'm sure you could get them at places like Pets Mart if you don't want to buy online. (from callpocket)

- Here are a couple that have survived Sophie so far:
  • Busy Buddy bouncy bone - We gave up on the rawhide inserts. She rips those out in seconds but likes the toy without them anyhow and cannot kill it.)
  • Everlasting treat ball -Again she pulls out the expensive inserts right off the bat...but she likes bouncing the toy. You can also hide dog kibble in the middle for the dog to try to get out, which entertains him for awhile. She hasn't managed to rip this one at all yet even though it feels soft and flexible.
  • Jolly Ball: - Ours is bigger than the one at this link. It's hysterical to see her stick her snout in the hole and wave the ball in the air. It's bigger than her head. She runs around the house with it on her snout, growling and acting like a maniac. I don't know why she can't chew it up, but she can't.
  • Then there are big Nylabones, which she can kill eventually. But they take a long time to die. (from olu)

The flying pig is history. We had to take it away when she chewed off its foot and its snout in a few minutes. She's all depressed now.

She ate the ear off her second flying pig. She got it out of a closed bench to do it.

Tails has been WANTING to eat the squirrels in our yard, but has failed.

We have been thinking about getting Tails a friend. Anyone with 2 dogs, what made you decide to go for it?

Hilarios, our first (the good one) dog was just lonely and bored. His life got much more interesting when we got dog #2. Of course, so did ours. Maybe you can find a dog #2 that does not chew. Really, he's been much happier ever since we got her to keep him company.

We are in the process of working with BREW Midwest to get Tails a sister.
Meanwhile...

I want to get Tails some antlers and bully sticks. Anyone know a cheap place online to order from? I am trying to avoid ordering in bulk right now since funds are low. But I have a feeling I might have to.

Hey Hilarious, I don't know any good places to order bully sticks or antlers--didn't even know you could buy antlers for dogs to chew. Hope you found something.

What my dog ate today: After months of relative goodness around our stuff, she pulled a book off the bookshelf--don't know why she chose this particular one--and ate the entire back cover. The rat.

My Shepherd ate a towel from the VFW hall that I accidently brought home with my apron. Then last night he ate my dd's Tom Sawyer book.

When were gone -back into the crate he goes.

Who knows, a book I think would be more tasty then a towel, but I'll shrug my shoulders at this one.

Tom Sawyer book was old, maybe it had tons of enticing smells... Wink

UnderweatherUnderweatherMy favorite, soft, cozy, leather-bottomed Acorn slippers that until today kept my feet warm at night. Bad dog.
