Apple tried to change the came with Siri, but its true functionality is basic at best. with things like Smart Actions in Android 4.0, even things like reminders/events based on location are baked into both OSs. so it all falls back on preference when talking software.

i'll answer that with another question: what is so great about this phone that it deserved to have an event that was hyped for months, shrouded in pseudo-secrecy, and banned from having live press video streamed from it? based on the behavior and comments of Apple and others, this is supposed to be revolutionary or amazing or whatever overblown adjective you want to use (just like all their other products), and ours is simply a response to that, not to more reasonable folks like you who just like that it finally has a screen size and data transfer rate comparable to a year old Android phone.

it wasnt hyped by APPLE for months... they didnt tell anyone about it until i think a week ago?

I was expecting a "one more thing.." announcement with the iPad Mini from them today.

I have had no interest in the new iPhone 5...already knew what it was going to look like a weeks...maybe a month or so ago. Was disappointing..I expected more, but I guess that BBC article was right that it's like a Camry now...safe. reliable. boring.

New iPod Nanos are different though, but it seems very "Kirfish" to me. The circle app icons totally don''t seem like something Apple would do, so I found it very odd.

well the changes to iTunes will hopefully be a good move towards a more usable platform... iTunes has outgrown itself and is in need of a revamp

I read in an article somewhere that it's possible AT&T will let people keep the unlimited data plan, but not allow FaceTime over 4g.

I will definitely be getting an iPhone 5. I really hope they announce new iMacs soon because I want one.

Eh, whatever.

And yeah, I'd keep my unlimited plan because I don't find myself wanting to use FaceTime when I'm not connected to wifi anyway.

It's called marketing and it's what sells products. No one needs NFC or wireless charging. After all, only 8% of all merchants have NFC POS terminals installed and wireless charging isn't really wireless, since you still need to plug the charging station into the wall. Nonetheless, marketing hype has convinced people that they need these features. I'm not at all wow'ed by the iPhone 5, but it seems silly to criticize Apple, or any company for that matter, for a successful marketing campaign. It seems more sensible to criticize Americans for being so easily taken in by marketing hype.
