I'm happy to hang onto my jailbroken IPhone 4. When that gives up the ghost I'm going to be looking Android.

The Apple haters will always find something to hate. Whatever. New hardware looks great, and should perform great along with iOS 6. I'll be preordering Friday ASAP.

It's funny that I always see so much hatred towards Apple, but not all that much from Apple-fans towards Android. Apparently people don't get the whole live and let live. Use what OS you like best and move the hell on with life.

If you don't like the iPhone and iOS, why bother bitching about what Apple does or doesn't include? Unless you have stock in the company, your bitching is just, well, bitching for the sake of bitching. Dontknow
If you read the reviews from people who have played around with it, it's worth the upgrade. On paper it looks like Apple just tweaked it a little bit, but the way it feels in the hand and is designed it's not only much faster and responsive, but it's much lighter and stronger (no glass back).

I think Apple fans see the light and fortunately the majority of the world sees it that way too. People walk around with a gothic look. They swear up an down that black lipstick, black pants, black shirt, silver studs, looks good. You ever seen anyone who is highly respected wear that crap? No, yet every day people put that stuff on thinking they look good. Those are the Android fans. Apple fans wear khaki's and polo's. They are normal. You can say it's subjective, I say it's common sense.

That's how I feel... and the reason why I'm probably going to give Window Phone 8 a try... or giving android another chance. Apple don't wow me anymore with their products... maybe the iPad mini... for commuting purposes since my ipad is a bit big and heavy.

Agreed! that's why the iPhone 5 is more of a tweaked from the iPhone 4S instead of bringing something "new" to the table w/ the phone.
I am the current owner of HTC Radar (Windows Phone 7), a Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android with ICS installed), and iPod Touch (4th (and latest) generation with iOS 5 installed). The iPod Touch is the one I use when I'm at home. The Galaxy S2's screen looks like crap compared with both the Windows Phone and the iPod Touch. I even did a screen comparison tonite with the screen brightness boosted to high with all 3 of them. Windows Phone is hard to use, although the colors are remarkably accurate, even more so than the retina screen on the iPod Touch.

It's harder to type on the Galaxy S2's screen than the iPod Touch. My thumbs really have to stretch. I can't even imagine what it's like to type on the S3 which has an even bigger screen, although if I were an older person with bad eyesight, the S2 would actually be a better choice because it displays everything in bigger size.

If you compared Galaxy S3, Windows Phone 8, and the new iPhone 5 head to head, the iPhone 5 would wow you with it's fast processing power, increased screen resolution (larger ppi), bigger app store, useful apps like Passport, and other features. It is designed to be sleak and light but strong. The Galaxy S3 feels plasticky compared to iPhone 5.

Just ordered the new iPod Touch. Email says it delivers within 5 days after shipping. Looking forward to the new features.

In all seriousness...did you watch the YouTube about the "first product testing of the iPhone 5"??? They literally gave people the exact same phone that they have used for a year, and the users raved about how much lighter it was a better made and faster and more responsive. It is ALL in your head. It works with any "new" product...it always seems better. Seriously, watch the link, it's pretty funny, especially when the girl pulls out her phone with the massive protective case and starts to talk about how its so much smaller.

Well, no one can ever fault you for not trying at least. Sheesh...

But not sure how you mean Windows Phone is hard to use. It is different than anything else, yes, but not hard in the SLIGHTEST. To open Facebook on my wife's phone I have to know specifically what page of her home screen it was on, and then what folder on that page. To open Facebook on a Windows Phone, if it isn't already pinned to your start screen, you just swipe to the apps and quick key to the F's. It is the same process no matter what, never any searching.

Just a thought to anyone getting a new, larger phone:

I have a 4" screen on my phone. it isn't HARD to type, but you have to learn a different way to do it. I could not type with my thumbs for the life of me, so I flip the phone to landscape, and type with my index fingers. You get a much better reach, you are much more accurate with your fingers than your thumbs, and can type much faster. Also, with the bigger screens come bigger keyboards and thus bigger keys. The odds you hit the correct key when you are aiming for a dot that is 50x50 pixels is much better than when it is 30x30.

Not to beat a dead horse, but...can't tell if serious?

An iPhone 5 would win a spec war with a phone when you 1) can't compare the processor since they use something completely different and you can't really test software efficiency besides doing a "feels better" test. 2) a SMALLER ppi on a SMALLER screen than its competition (Lumia 920, WP8). 3) Have me on the app store, for now. 4) Passport, just like Wallet software that all the OS's have? And 5) It is sleek and light, until people throw their 5 gram otterbox onto it!!! Haven't had one in hand yet, but I would put money down that says the Lumia won't feel cheap and will actually be smaller than the iPhone once everyone throws a huge case onto it.

laugh out loud Yeah, I've gotten some crazy looks from people because of how huge my Samsung Galaxy Nexus looks. Even I think it's too chunky, but it's because before I walked out of the store with it, I already had a huge Otterbox case on it. Once I took that off to check out how it really looked, it was so slim and nice! It's too bad I am scared of throwing it in my purse like that though.

I contemplated the whole waking-up-at-3am thing but i actually forgot that it was last night and so i just did it this morning when i got in to work. Was able to pre-order through verizon's site with no problem. If their site ads are to be believed, it should be delivered on the 21st which would be nice since i was originally planning on going to a verizon store on release day and trying to slide in between sweaty mouthbreathers as they all push and shove to try to get their shiny new phone, but this online pre-ordering stuff saves me this hassle.

I think i probably forgot to mention which i stated already in other post that I'm a 4s user... so the 5 isn't much of an upgrade from the 4s when speaking about hardware (yeh, taller screen, LTE, "faster" processor... umm what else?...)... but definately i'm going to update the software cus I think that's the major new thing for the iPhone... But iono... i love that the iOS everything just work... but i'm getting bored of it...

Is it just me that a small size phone suits me better? I wear dress pants with small pockets. So, iphone 4 is perfect, I don't want it any larger.

Nope, it's not just you. I looked at the HTC One X and Samsung S3 but ultimately ruled them out due to their size. I'm a very active person (gym, walking, hiking, etc.) and consequently, a smaller phone suits me better. I'm a bit hesitant about the iPhone 5 as well, though the size increase is quite minimal and comes with a a lighter/thinner device.

between the people that own an Iphone and put a 5 gram Otterbox onto it and the other people that buy the newest 5" Android... It really is just you.

Between work and other friends, I could easily count maybe 20 people that own an iPhone. ONE of them doesn't have it in a case. ONE. Thinking about it...It is also the only GUY that I can think of that currently owns one...so...0% of women buy an Apple for the slim phone size and 100% of guys do. I'd say that isn't the best sample size.

This is the first sane argument for getting an iPhone over anything else that I have heard yet. I will happily defer and say that it could be a good decision in your case. Most phones now-a-days are pretty much identical except for size.
