Smoking Ban and Termination

In Illinois we have had a smoking ban for over 4 years which is long enough for everyone to have heard of in our state. I servie copy machines and do network maintenance and am being forced to go into an accounting firm in Central IL that feels that the smoking ban does not apply to them. The building smells, there is heavy smoke in the air, and the owner is kind of like a dragon. She doesn't even have a cigarette in her hand but she still will have smoke pouring out of her mouth after speaking 2 complete sentences.
Can I be fired for reporting them to the authorities and for letting them know that the reason I am unable to give them good service is due to the fact that I feel ill and get a migraine while in the office and cannot perform under the current circumstances?

Smoking is a disgusting habit, but guess what: it's not your right to say which habits people can have around you and which people can't. We have a right to choose. If you don't like that these people smoke, tell your boss. Maybe your boss doesn't like having people who bitch and moan as an employee. And really, it's over-dramatic people like yourself who get these stupid laws that force security over freedom passed. I would be interested to see a dragon woman who can spew smoke on a whim without even having a cigarette. Perhaps there is cancer on the door handles that they give to everyone who enters.
Quit your bitching and get to work. Not every day of work is meant to be neverland.

You will never know!
Whining like that really pisses me off. The OP wants to go in to a private company that is paying him to be there and then tell them how they should conduct their business and their lives.

Not the unconstitutional ones.

I'm just asking to make the case that there are plenty of laws on the books that are unconstitutional but have been found constitutional by the supreme court.

It's a proven fact that life causes death. Sorry, but if someone wants to choose to die by smoking that's their choice. If a worker of that company objects, then the company should be prosecuted if they don't change their ways. Until then....let them be. I'm not arguing with what you said about cancer and smoking, I'm just saying that I value freedom over security.

Even if you are fired for a protected reason, you still loose your job even if you win the court case which will take years
Tell your boss that you feel sick working on site there and let him know that you don't feel you will be able to continue working at that location but you will happily work at other sites

I know I'm on the wrong side of this issue because the majority of people want security over freedom, but the OP doesn't work directly for that company. He has options and isn't forced to work on that site. I'll take the freedom to secure myself any day.
