Is it ok to fill an McDonalds Ice Coffee Cup with Soda?

628 181 October 23, 2012 at 02:54 PM in Grocery
So its been bugging me but I dunno if someone could answer this.

My friends and I like to hang out at a McDonalds because we're hooked on the Iced Coffee as its cheap.

I typically order a large Ice coffee but sometimes I finish it early. I went to fill it with soda and a lady (another fellow customer) gave me a comment about how I shouldn't be doing that and should purchase a fountain drink cup (McDonalds has that $1 any size fountain drink going on)
I ignored her but its been bugging me.

Is it appropriate to just empty the left-over ice out of the cup and fill it with something from the Self-Serve Fountain Drink dispenser? (I understand its ok if I fill it with water)

What do you guys think?

I'm not exactly still bent over it since I do see and agree with the point people made. Hence why I'm not trying refute those examples.

I guess I'm wondering where it lies because if we were to strictly follow the idea if for example I fill it with water, ice, or carbonated water (yeah I know no one uses that tab on the machine. Its just nasty by itself), then it would also be stealing water or ice.
Well, water is usually given out for free. So, you would get free water either way. As for the ice, that would be okay if you're putting the ice in your iced coffee cup and getting the free water.

With carbonated water, I don't know if that's a usual free item on the soda machine. I wouldn't think so though because carbonation does cost money. But, if it is free, then that's okay too then.

Except water and ice are free. They don't even charge you for the cup (around here, anyway).

Yeah considering my drink is already done the moment I'm taking the cash out of my wallet
Annoyed Well I'm jealous. Whenever I order an iced coffee or anything from their McCafe stuff, it usually takes forever. Heck, last time it took so long I thought they forgot about me.

And it's usually when things are dead, and not many other people in the restaurant. These people are sloooooow! Annoyed

Water isn't free, if you ever have a business or even a home, you have to pay for your water supply

Customer: Can I have a cup for water?
McD employee: Sure, here you go.
Customer: Goes to fountain, puts a bit of ice and filtered water into the cup.

So yeah, from the customer's perspective, water is free.

Who ever expected Ryu would be the one to be teaching the conservative lesson that free things actually do have a cost? laugh out loud

or...

Customer: Can I have a pack of BBq sauce?
McD employee: Sure, here you go.
Customer: Takes cup of BBq sauce.

So yeah, from the customer's perspective, bbq sauce was free

This is why Mcd has resorted to charging for those dipping sauces now, backed a couple years ago they use to hand them out when you ask them

They don't charge me. Maybe it's because I'm so handsome.
