Is it ok to fill an McDonalds Ice Coffee Cup with Soda?

628 181 October 23, 2012 at 02:54 PM in Grocery
So its been bugging me but I dunno if someone could answer this.

My friends and I like to hang out at a McDonalds because we're hooked on the Iced Coffee as its cheap.

I typically order a large Ice coffee but sometimes I finish it early. I went to fill it with soda and a lady (another fellow customer) gave me a comment about how I shouldn't be doing that and should purchase a fountain drink cup (McDonalds has that $1 any size fountain drink going on)
I ignored her but its been bugging me.

Is it appropriate to just empty the left-over ice out of the cup and fill it with something from the Self-Serve Fountain Drink dispenser? (I understand its ok if I fill it with water)

What do you guys think?

Wendy's Chili is made in store. Yea, it is just mix a can of this and two cans of that...but it is actually made there. I don't remember if they used burger patties for the ground beef though. I know McDonalds was made somewhere else, frozen, and sent to the stores who would put it in a pot of warm water to heat it up and serve it.

You really can taste when places put a little more effort into their product, but you have to pay for it too.
I think they use the old patties from the previous day. There was an article on it or something. Still delicious chili.

It was a double cheeseburger on a fancy, toasted bun. Bigger patties than the value burgers. Cheaper than their regular double.

McDonald's chili is disgusting vomit

I googled around a little about Burger King chili and apparently it was also made in each individual store and they did use actual flame-broiled burger patties for the chili.

It wasn't the same as Wendy's but I recall liking it just as much. Wendy's still had the advantage of this though:

If you go to fast food place like Mcdonalds oversea, you would find that they have no concept of refills, not even for 50 cents. America is very generous indeed.

Unfortunately, this is the reason why most of the world thinks Americans are spoiled, selfish brats. Not that I'm agreeing with them because I'm sure someone will probably come back and quickly respond to my post with something like I'm un-American or whatnot.

We Americans are so used to so many "luxuries". And, it's engrained in the psyche of Americans. It's considered normal. The super large portions. Expected return/exchange policies. Good customer service. 15% minimum tipping. Freebies galore.

And, it's not the American consumers who are to blame. It's the businesses who allowed it in the first place. They allowed it to get this far in order to appease consumers. Now, they expect it. Only natural.......

For example, who started the idea that you can bring in your sunglasses or eyeglasses that you bought 1-2 yrs ago and expect it to be repaired for free? Yes, it's a sensitive subject for me!laugh out loud But, I don't think in any other consumer product out there in the market do ppl expect wear and tear to be covered for that long.

Or, if you didn't even buy the eyeglasses at a particular store/business, why would you expect that any business would repair them for free for you? I just don't get it.

Do ppl who bought a nice suit expect the store to supply them with buttons forever? Can you walk into any drycleaners with your ripped pants or jacket with a missing button and expect them to repair it for you for free when you never bought the items there or even had any services performed at that drycleaners before?

It's just amazing.......LMAO

If that were true we would have the best products, which we don't by a long shot.

By the way, let's consider the business standpoint too regarding this issue. Coffee certainly cost more than soda for most fast food joints. When restaurants have a self-serve soda machine in their business, their cost for the soda is very small since they are buying the soda syrup and mixing it with their own carbonated water. I think the cost of that paper cup with the lid and straw may be more than the actual soda!
If the cost of soda is so negligible, what is the big deal for OP to fill a cup?

It starts there with a seemingly inconsequential lapse in morals and eventually ends up in the total degradation of an ethical and respectful society into one of total anarchy.
