Is the neuropathy painful? I've known people that had it and had issues walking or using their hands/arms.

Quinoa is a seed that's eaten like a grain. It tastes kinda nutty, I think. It gets good grades from the healthy types- lots of amino acids and stuff. I use it like rice- I can stir fry veggies and serve them tossed with it and a logotype olive oil, lemon juice, sea salt- or if you go to the fancy groceries they make quinoa salads with fruits- dried fruits- greens- I'll get ideas and copy their dishes

Our whole health care system is soooo screwed up, with no easy solutions.
Workers blame employers for increased cost sharing requirements

Insurance companies blame medical industry

Then comes the legal system
Don't forget the pharmaceutical industry
And my least Favorite, the FDA

Yes...hands and feet mostly. (and numbness) When I first got it I had severe facial pain (trigeminal) on the left for about 2 months. I have all kinds of meds to keep it at bay now

Sounds delish!!!! I will have to look for that and try it out. Do you like lentils? My Dad makes this lentil loaf that is (basically meatloaf with no meat) and my Mom makes a cold salad with them....tons of fresh chopped parsley, red onion, cucumber chopped small, olive oil, fresh sqeezed lemons, salt and pepper. I think you would love it!!

Everyone is on government assistance of some sort. The police, schools, fire departments are all services provided by the government for the greater good. We are all suppose to be working together to help each other. That is the point of these programs, to help everyone. There is no shame in using a device only in abusing it

My Gram is so mean and thoughtless to me- no matter what I try to do or how I approach her, I just end up feeling sick and exhausted and angry when I have any contact with her.

I dont like having these negative feelings and I struggle with them. She's old, she wont be here forever, try to be nice to her. And whenever I do, I feel like she gives me a big punch and I regret even considering talking to her again.

Make sure you work hard, and you won't need gov't.

Is she a professional victim? Seems like a lot of the people I've known like that somehow always see themselves as terribly hurt and mistreated...and view that as an unlimited license to stomp all over everyone around them without a trace of guilt or regret. Trouble is, even if you try to help them or make them happier, they find a way to get back at you for it.


I feel like I've been having a stupid day today. Maybe it's not entirely true, but I feel like I spent the whole day giving talks about movie production and distribution to people who aren't going to remember a bit of it.

That doesn't actually bother me (and it's pleasant enough to do). I don't mind doing it and it prompted me to do some research and learn a bunch of things myself, but when you sit and think about it afterwards, it's still kind of stupid--like spending a day doing a scene that you know is just going to be cut anyway (not that I haven't done that before a time or twenty).

You said one of my all time most hated terms......"greater good". And there should be shame in. I'm not talking about public shame. I mean that people need to have a higher sense of themselves than to rely on it. Honestly, I've felt shamed the last two years my kids have been on it, but the medical costs we were stuck with after losing my son and then subsequently almost losing my life were a lot. The twins came out of left field while we were still paying off the other stuff, and the youngest came out of a bottle of tequila and me cutting my long hair so DW didn't hate me any more. I didn't want to go on medicaid, but my tax attorney dad told me that he has been working his entire life so that he could provide for me when I needed it. He said that having most of his paycheck taken through taxes was part of that providing, and he had been paying for other people to have it so his son may as well take advantage his taxpayer dollars it is needed. So I did, and I worked my ass off. With almost 15 percent real unemployment I've worked like a dog, and I told my boss I wanted a 30 percent raise. I got 12 percent in a stagnant economy. No I will pay more for my insurance, but my kids won't be taking money from folks like my dad any more. I felt that shame for two years because had my dad not paid his taxes he would have been thrown in jail. They've tried to ruin him in every way you can think of. They've come after him and tried to throw him in jail for all kinds of reasons. They have never succeeded because he's never done anything illegal.

Financially, I'm not much better off than I was two years ago, but come January, my kids will be on my insurance. Perhaps if people (in my situation) had to be off of gov't assistance in order to vote, our country would be much better off.

Also, we turned down WIC when DW got pregnant with DS4. Do you know what it's like to have three babies in diapers? That's 300 a month just in diapers and another 100 to 200 in milk.

chewy there's been a paradigm shift between your dad's generation & now

folks work many hours & many jobs = work hard

only to have these employers rely on governemnt HANDOUTS (tax credits) & refer their slaves to county/state/fed assistance to cover their med/food costs. company ain't paying for a thing!!! large companies do this all the time, like w^mart. or another popular scheme is merely circumvent the entire system entirely, hiring illegals. this is common w/both small & large outfits.

Uh, this was in reply to "people on gov't assistance shouldn't be allowed to vote." So, you want them to vote. Hmmmm.
