I don't like them either, hence one might notice I don't use them. With the speed I type, really not much effort to include two or three extra letters.

Yeah, I appreciate andyone who boycotts, but I can't stand reading them. DD to me is Dunkin Donuts. And DW to me sounds like it should be on the end of some cough syrup.

Plus, are they really 'dear'? I know I like to use terms like 'spiffy' and 'nifty' and even 'Oh Snap!' But 'dear' is a little to '50s for me.
