I'm surprised this is not getting more attention.
I used 425 with 50 left over on a computer purchase.
I didnt use the CB site.
I just called up and they allowed me to use both cards.
I WAS on hold for a long time though

Correct. The trick is to determine the total cost of your computer taxes and everything as long as the total is under $1150 ($500+$500+$75+$75). Then when you buy your gift card make sure each card is atleast $400 or more. Meaning if your computer is $1043.65. Buy a $494 gift card and $400 gift card. Combine those two to make $894 + 2 x $75 = $1044. This is what i did and paid off my order with 3 gift cards. No need to worry about the 4th payment option. Only a few cents is unused on the Gift Card and i'm okay with that as long as i get to use both $75.

keep in mind that if after your 3 gift card (in the case that you use $800 and two $75s) you still owe money, they will not be able to process a 4th payment method. you'll have to drop one of the gift cards and add a CC.

You can only consolidate the paid gift cards not promotional gift cards i.e. the $400 you just purchased. The $75 is promotional and is not allowed to be combined. Promotional cards expire while the paid gift cards do not. Also when you pay give them the promotional card numbers first wait a bit for them to enter in the promotional cards then give them the paid card information that way you can have a balance left over on the paid gift card if you didn't use it all and that will not expire.

I tried that link to consolidate - says "The Gift Card number you entered is not eligible for consolidation.." because it is a promotional gift card? did it work for others? Help please, I want to order now.

yep, right on and good advice. for some reason, the rep i talked to tried really hard to find a reason why he shouldn't be able to apply 3 gift cards with no credit card. i finally convinced him to just try it, and of course, it worked. he seemed surprised.

"Unable to process your egift card order..."

Fourth time. I give up. This is really lousy of these people. And they can't even give a reason why they reject.

That's better than having your order processed, your gift cards sent to you, and then they end up being invalid, and the status has been changed to "returned" for no apparent reason...

Yeah, it sounds fishy. Sounds like Dell partnered with some low-budget operation.

I called to see if they could reverse the return, or process a new order and expedite the process while I'm at it, by verifying everything. Nope, the CS rep just said I would have to place a new order, and that they couldn't take credit cards over the phone, and didn't even seem to care that my order had been mysteriously returned. I don't know what kind of POS (double-meaning) system they're using, but how does it randomly process orders for returns?? They couldn't even tell me whether my next order would get to me anytime today. I'm tempted to just give up.

Wow.. This is ridiculous. I swear, they're purposely doing this. I called in for the second time to expedite the verification process on the second order, and now it's also been returned. Are they just putting it in to process a refund? The rep told me that they couldn't determine the outcome for how the order would be processed after they put it into the system... WTH DOES THAT MEAN? I give up..

how long does it take for the gift cards to become active? I got the emails and have the gift card numbers but Dell's website isn't taking them. It keeps giving me an error saying the gift card number is invalid.

What a lousy experience! Purchased mine yesterday around 2:00 and immediately received order confirmation. No cerfticates emailed to me by 5:00, so i clicked on the link in my confirmation for the status of my cerfticates. Status says "Contact Us", please contact customer care, blah, blah. YOU'D THINK THEY'D EMAIL YOU IF THERE WERE ANY PROBLEMS. Called customer care. After about 15 minutes on hold, i left detailed message with my phone number. Ofcourse, i never received a phone call back. Wanted to buy a cybermonday sale, ofcourse it's now expired!

Ordered two. Got my first one IMMEDIATELY, including the promo. The second one is still in process, likely because they were purchased back-to-back.
