The Official Car Talk Thread

I suppose can continue the conversation from the Funniest Pics thread here, along with any other car talk..

Quote from Jabbit :
The SLS is pretty nuts, I have seen a couple on the streets and they sounds almost musclecar-ish. I also saw an Enzo at the car show (it was actually Cars & Coffee in Irvine CA which is pretty well known). I would like an older M3, the last one that had the inline-6. I have never been in one but they seem like they would be a lot of fun. Not really practical in New England though.

We should start an official "Car Chat" thread.
That enzo is awesome. I spotted a 599GTO at F1 as well. There were a few people leaning up against it taking pics. If I was the owner I'd have been pissed.

BMW is bringing back the straight 6 for 2013 (or maybe 14).. They're doing a twin turbo version in the name of fuel economy. There was rumor about there being a third turbo in there too.

I just want a lowly BRZ for fun and a STi for winter, or even a WRX.

Based on those pictures, it looks like the Nomad has an air suspension so you could raise and lower it as you please, anyways.

Ugh.. WANT: http://jalopnik.com/5963763/this-...che-cayman

Just gotta be patient. Finish paying off the current car and wait a couple years for these to come back as lease returns so I can buy one CPO...

Have you driven one before? Or a Boxster? I am curious as to what the experience is like. I would never buy one just based on looks, but I hear they drive wonderfully.

Looks and performance on paper is what has me hooked right now. Before I'm completely invested in picking one up in a couple years I plan on going to drive one in the next couple weeks. I'll let you know my thoughts after.

I have a buddy that drives a 911 and he absolutely loves it, and he's been pushing me to buy a Porsche for some time now. We'll see what I think when I actually drive it though.

Hard to narrow it down and pick between practicality and a shit-ton of fun.. But here goes, no particular order:

1. 1955 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing - My dream car
2. DBS Volante - Who doesn't want a convertible Aston to cruise in?
3. Ford F150 - King Ranch edition - I like the KR's and why not have a truck.
4. Range Rover - Practical SUV
5. M5 - "Practical" Sport Sedan
6. Porsche Cayman - Current "dream" car that is within reach win the next 2-3 years.
7. Porsche GT3 RS - Gotta have a kick ass track car
8. C63 AMG Black Series - Really like the C-Class AMGs
9. Ferrari F12, just love, love, love how this car looks
10. 1969 Chevelle SS - American Muscle and wanted this one when I was a kid.

The Atom is a good choice too.. If I was to add that, I would drop the Cayman and the GT3 RS. Get a top-end 911 turbo and the Atom instead.
bumpity. Landers man, I love the C class AMG's, especially the black series. But, this wagon [youtube.com] drool

In no particular order:
1) Mercedes Benz SLR (722) - i lied, this is #1, my dream car
2) Zenvo ST1
3) Corvette Stingray C3 Coupe
4) AC Cobra
5) Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Black Series - current almost affordable dream car...one day
6) BMW M8
7) Porsche GT2 RS
8) Pagani Zonda F or R
9) BMW E46 M3 CSL
10) Audi RS5
There's more cars that I love, but only 10

1500 horse V8 (really?)
0-60 2.2 sec with top speed of 287 mph

Only...... $1,250,000. Such a deal compared to a Bugatti.

Ah yes the Hennessy Venom GT2, what a beast. Even the GT1 was a beast, and Hennessy is making it clear the GT2 is no way a successor to the GT1, which is interesting. But, yeah, the Veyron is not as impressive as it once first came out. Even then, it wasn't that special for its time. Cars like the Mclaren F1 or the Mercedes C111 (did 12 hours at top speed 195mph and averaged almost 15mpg in 1978) were damn impressive.

Errr I dunno, I still think the Veyron is impressive. Maybe not from a statistical perspective, but certainly from an engineering standpoint. 257 mph in a street-legal car? And it wasn't like one of those "200 mph" cars that couldn't get there - they Veyron could actually do it.

Thought I would post a link to my favorite car blog - http://www.speedhunters.com/

Some of the BEST photography on the web when it comes to automobiles. Prepare to waste a couple hours on that site.

It's kind of sad how Americans don't seem to appreciate good wagons. They've got such a negative connotation here, but Mercedes, Audi, and BMW all show prove that you can still have good power and performance from a "family" vehicle.

I like the list, but I do wonder why the GT2 instead of the GT3?

Both are great cars, but the GT2 RS has more power/torque than the GT3 RS, and is therefore a slightly better track car. At Nurbrgring, GT2 RS got a lap at 7:24, while the GT3 RS is slightly slower at 7:33 (same driver). Again, both great cars, but I'd give the slight advantage to the GT2 RS. Stick Out Tongue

For station wagons, we really don't have much. I mean I'd take the E63 AMG wagon, or the CTS-V wagon, but what else is there (maybe BMW 3 series wagon)? Not really a huge fan of the CLS Shooting Brake, at least from all the pictures I've seen. Maybe it'd be better in person :dotnknow:

It really has a bit of everything, and you can definitely come across some stuff that makes you say "wtf!" but it a good way.

S4 wagon was nice, as well as the Forester XT (if that qualifies). I still see quite a few Dodge Magnums too, the SRT-8 version is drool
