This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Please no one take offense to this, some want to know and some don't. I'm just wondering from those of you that do, why that's all.
We figured, it's still a "surprise" whether you find out in the delivery room or in the ultrasound room a few months earlier. EEK!

It was definitely a choice of convenience... you know what kind of clothes to buy, what kind of names to consider, etc. Plus, in this day and age, pretty much the first question asked after telling someone you're preggers is..... well, you know. Wink

I had advertised my one extra floor seat on Craigslist, and seen all these young single moms advertising for cheap tickets so I posted the link that I got, and received 7 emails from mom's saying "thank you" that they were able to get tickets that they couldn't otherwise afford.
So just saying, if you know anyone, tell them about the above, it should probably happen in all the cities shes playing in.
That was so nice of you to do that. hug

Thankfully, I have boys. They'd rather see Swordfight

BTW - can anyone tell me what family OFF is in. Last week a coupon attached to one of those clip on mosquito things and I have no idea which one it was.
SCJohnson.... the same family as Glade. Can't remember the actual numbers off-hand...wait, I found a Glade Q laugh out loud... Its the "46500" family.

Why is it that all the new young Mom's want to know what the sex of their child is going to be? .
I chose to not know. Knowing before is easier though. You can have everything ready. Can't play those silly games at the baby shower though. Teehee

We did both - we were surprised on the first two (boys) but then wanted to know the 3rd. If it was going to be a girl we had some shopping to do. We were almost relieved to find out it was another boy.

Wave

Well, after the 2nd girl, I wanted to know what the 3rd child was... So disappointed that it was another girl and it reflected... got a tomboy. laugh out loud

Then, with 3 girls, I wanted to know again... was told "a boy" at ultrasound. Once I found out, I was so ready to give birth too... that next 5 months dragged on too long....... Big Grin

See, this is why I didn't find out with either. I didn't even want a moment of disappointment. But that didn't stop my DH from saying "it's a boy" in the most monotone and disappointed sounding voice in the delivery room when my second DS was born. He claims that he thought I would be upset, but maybe he was the one who was disappointed! If we have a 3rd, we would find out. Not sure why, but we would. But we're not having a 3rd, so that doesn't matter.

Why is it that all the new young Mom's want to know what the sex of their child is going to be? My DD want's to know and I'm like that takes all the fun and surprise out of it, so then she agreed, but now is rethinking that idea and told me, Mom if you know what the sex is just think of all the things you can buy at Target!!
I found out b/c the information was right there to be had and it would have driven me crazy at that point not to know. However, if we had had to have a separate procedure to find out, I probably wouldn't have done it. Dontknow

I didn't have a "preference" about having a boy or a girl and really didn't want to. . . hmmm how to put this? presume anything about who my child was going to be based on his/her (his in this case) sex.

I didn't care about the whole pink/blue business and we didn't buy any clothes at all before he was born. Between showers and hand-me-downs (we have a lot of friends/acquaintances w/kids just a bit older) we actually hadn't bought him any clothes at all until just recently, believe it or not.

With my 1st pregnancy, it was rocky. Iwas on my own, I could NOT stand the month long-one-night-stand sperm donar. I was fearful that if I got a boy I would resent him so when I found out in the U/S, I was able to...mourn(?) then once I got him loved him more than I would have thought possible.

W/ #2 it was just there and same w/ #4 but with #3 and this one, #5 I did it because I just knew it wasnt a boy and had planning and shopping to do. #5 more importantly was "where the hell will we put it if it's a another boy!?!" so for square footage sake I had to know if we'd be selling our new house laugh out loud but we lucked out. Oldest has his own private room. DS #2 and DS #4 share and DD #3 and soon-to-be DD #5 will share bedrooms. I am happy (and so is DS #1 Wink)

We didn't find out with Mini. I wanted at least one Christmas gift. We all had in our minds that she was a boy. Had to double take when they said it's a girl. She wore lots of yellow and green the first 3 mos.

We decided to find out early with LJ as babies are expensive and it was easier to prepare...my Target runs Evillaugh. Pregnancy at 37 is very different than 23 so preparedness was high on the list of priorities!

I think I'm getting a clue...remember someone said something about Target trying to make changes to the return policy for people using coupons?

Ok, well I have returned a couple of items. I had them do a card lookup for the items as I didnt have my receipt handy and I KNOW I bought them on that card. It would not pull up, so they had to use my drivers license.

The item that did not pull up was an item that I used a coupon on.
So without a receipt, the computer did not recognize the items. I have no idea why, but it
did.

Here is what I returned: (Rylands birthday is tomorrow and I bought things I already had put away for him, duh)

Tag Reader book ~ used coupon
Jeans for him that didn't fit ~ no coupon
Computer recognized that I had bought the jeans but not the Tag book

Scratchhead

I saw someone in the deals thread mention the same thing happened to them. So my theory is that they are possibly cracking down on coupon returns without receipt.

For instance if I wanted to be an asshat I could get 5 movies with coupons and return them all. Well I dont want the cashier to see my receipt (obviously) so I return them and ask her to look it up on card I used.
With the new way, it goes against my drivers license or you bring in receipt.
Not a bad solution for asshat coupon returners.

wave I know reds read this. Not saying this to sound sneaky or anything. Just letting you know to try and keep up with your receipts.

I agree.. If I wouldn't have found out, I would have been going crazy knowing that the info was there, and the U/S people knew what I was having but I didn't.Wink
I found out with all 4 of mine and never regretted it. It made it so much easier planning things.. Especially with the last 2, I needed to figure out which room I would set the crib up in. And I had all of my clothes washed and put away before I delivered which left me free to rest some when I got home.
Speaking of clothes, have you noticed that it is much harder to find gender nuetral clothes now?? Almost everyone I know finds out the sex during pregnancy, but recently I had to buy a gift for someone who didn't know. It was difficult to find a gift. I opted to not buy clothes and just go with diapers/wipes. You can never have too many of those (or, I used to think so. currently, I have quite a few and wonder if my DD will ever wear them all)
