Sooooo did you ladies watch Fashion Star last year? It is a fashion designer reality show that the items purchased by the buyers is available for sale immediately after the show. Last season, the buyers were Saks, Macy's and H&M. Well, H&M is out...and Express is in! Uh oh! It premieres March 8th.
They play really cool songs on Fashion Star! Sounds like a DJ would help them show off their creations.

Unlike Project Runway, they don't waste as much boring air time showing how the contestants compose their clothes.

Furthermore, it's easier to focus on/keep track of/concentrate on only two or three designers at a time. Needless to say, i disagree with judges who criticize the pretty outfits and praise the ugly outfits.

What i'd like to know - Who are all of the artists behind VS fashion, and.. How do they determine which colors / patterns / styles make the final cut as the four seasons overlap?

i've watched it a few times. i kinda don't feel like owning something they've shown on tv.
i find Fashion Star rather fascinating. i could care less about Project Runway.

On the other hand, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is a different story. i feel happy just knowing that i own at least a handful of VS styles that have been represented / featured on the runway! Happy

I didn't purchase any of the items last season. I wanted one shift dress from early in the season, but I am not familiar with H&M sizing. It went OOS while I was trying fto decide. I wonder if they dropped H&M due to its lack of e-commerce experience. Their website was horrendous when trying to buy the merc. Typically, I get very angry when I see my clothing on others in person or on TV. I actually never see anyone wearing the pieces from the show. As much as you all love Express, I think they may have found a winner this season though. The majority of the pieces sold out immediately last season, and they are not available in all B&Ms.

I'm still toying with the idea of keeping it, because it is really flattering. I love the style and the way it fits everywhere besides the arms. I showed my boyfriend and he was all about until I showed him my limited range of motion, then he just laughed at me. I'm not even sure I could drive in it, it's that bad. I know the reasonable thing to do is return it, but I have this weird attachment to it.
I have one with a limited range of motion and I unbutton it before I get in the car, but I live in a mild climate so I don't know if that's a viable option for you Dontknow

do the responsible thing and return it. you won't wear it much if you can't move in it, unless you plan on getting it altered (i don't even know how they would fix that problem tho). can you try 1 size larger? might not look *as* nice and flattering but it could give you a bit more motion. you just need to be able to drive... Coverlaugh
I think the problem has more to do with how it is tailored than the size. Anything I size up for to get more room in the shoulders just ends up a disaster (like that cross-back dress that looked so great on you). I think I just need to give up my irrational obsession with this coat. I've been price-stalking it for like 2 or 3 years, so after getting it at a price I didn't mind paying and it looking pretty good, I'm having trouble with parting with it.

Quote from GoHeels :
You're good at sewing. Could you let the arms out a little? The coat looks great on you. I have the same problem with a lot of Express coats/jackets. It's frustrating.
I'm by no means good at sewing, just competent at very basic stuff. I hate working with sleeves too. I wouldn't mind taking it to get altered, but I have 2 black wool coats coats and I only occasionally wear them, even with PA winters. If it's over 40 and not windy, I just end up wearing a hoodie.

here is this dress. it's cute. i do think it may have a flaw. the fabric is thick and the way is cut i think it may ride up and you'll have to pull it down constantly. idk about it. it's cute on though but i can see me having to fight it.
That is such a flattering cut for your figure. It's too bad it rides up. I don't often get excited about Express clothing, but I was eyeing that dress since someone first pointed it out.

lol, This is one of the only un-Photoshopped VS images i've ever seen published on vs.com and sneak peek preview website www.vsangelstribute.com.

Hypothetically, would they sell less or more if they leave realistic-looking pictures as is (e.g. without touch-ups, manipulation, color enhancements, etc.)? Hmm..
I think they'd get a better public image if they used untouched photos, but it would probably even out as far as sales goes. It would only be a small step though, until they started using average and plus-sized women as models, it's still an over-glamorized representation of the product. I honestly like the look of the untouched photos better, you don't think about them airbrushing things like freckles until you see a picture like that. Their purpose is to sell bras though, not show of the natural and unique beauty of their models, but I'm sure they can emphasize the product in a more tasteful manor.

just tried on the liggy houndstooth dress. wow. that's so short. I took a pic.. Will post later.
*edit*
I had to put on tights. It's soooo short!
That looks so cute! I don't like wearing things that are really short either, but it looks great with the tights. If it doesn't make you feel too uncomfortable to wear in public, then I think you should keep it. I really like that color and style, if they had it in my size I would probably order it. It might be shirt-length on me though.

That is actually a great idea. I just tried it on and I can move fine when it is unbuttoned. Why didn't I think of that? Facepalm

These are hoodies with giant brand names on them like BILLABONG or stripes like he's some 15 y/o pubescent skater dood. I agree it's fine for lounging, but lounging is all we do with our non-traditional jobs Tongue So every outing we need to wear real clothes! laugh out loud You should see how sad I am when we go for a walk in our super cas. clothes thru the resort and endup eating at one of the restaurants over there. I don't want to eat a $100 meal in jeans and sneakers- b/c when else am I supposed to wear these superfabulous clothes I'm burying myself in? This just happened last night, we decided to capitalize on the last days of DineLA spontaneously and... yeah. Messed Up

No, I bought everything I could! I got so much! laugh out loud I confess, I was happy to have my cart widdled down by items going OOS. I got a 6 dresses (1 re-buy, sharkbite, draped boatneck, ruffled raglan, metallic flit and flare lace, 1-shoulder metallic ruched lace, ruched lace dress (pink) , skirts, sweaters- ribbed cocoon and some v-necks, hi-low tanks in gold and black, all the pants went OOS on me, and some jackets ( lace jacket, shawl soft collar)

I wear hoodies most of the time Hide I mean, if I'm out someplace nice or dressed up I always opt for a cardigan and/or nice coat, but for hanging out with friends and stuff it feels more natural. All the hoodies I normally wear out are American Apparel, which are fitted and don't look so frumpy, in my opinion. Parts of me are still kind of like an overgrown child though, and this might be one of those cases.

their sizing is very random. sometimes xs is too big but i've had to go up to a size 6.

Thank you! It's very cute. I love it. I'll probably rebuy at 25-30 if it hits that price point.
