VS: Over the past 3 months, I've spent around $4K via online; nothing I needed of course. Naturally, I used a free shipping code for each purchase, but was charged shipping for many purchases. After many emails (since I hate calling), they finally agreed to refund the shipping charges on most of my orders "as a courtesy". When I inquired about the ones they refused to refund, their response was "the items you ordered dropped in price at time of shipment... therefore, you no longer qualify for free shipping with $100 purchase." Needless to say, I was very upset. To be cordial, I even asked if I could add items to bring the purchase over $100 in order to qualify for free shipping. They said no. So, guess what I'm going to do with all the items that I have not used and still have receipts for? You guessed it! They're all going back. And not just the ones I purchased for retail therapy over the past few months, but every item that I have purchased over the years that I have yet to use and are still in their original packaging. That's no way to treat a customer of 12 years, VS!
I hear you in returning everything you didn't use. That's what I did too when I was on my VS ban. Huge box of returns, dating 6 years or so back. Of course, include the invoice with the amount clearly stated if you're going to do that, but expect a huge headache in making sure they credit you everything. I was happy to get a couple of K back!
Now, I just order up to $100 for FS, and return what I don't want. So that way, at least they are losing out on S&H fees! Or if I'm feeling particularly evil, order bras and return so at least I get the bonus points credited or the FS on bras or whatever and magically earn rewards. VS likes to think that the ball is in their court, but it's been in mine after they've pissed me off.
edit: I managed to get this one for $59.99. If you sign up for the recycle program they give you a $40 off code. Im going to look for the link.
Here at work, they have done a ton of restructuring over the last 2 years, and my job has become a lot more support oriented and not necessarily accountable. We (one other woman and I) support 5 coordinators. We take care of all their travel and many other things for personnel. Under the previous management, I was in charge of the scheduling and coordinating of all the personnel we have, now they do the scheduling and we do the travel, logistics, certifications, etc. It's a little frustrating that after the meeting we had yesterday I felt as though I had become a "dump all" for them to dump their paperwork and crap on my department. OK, whatever, we'll deal.
However, after this happened, one of the guys came in the office and made a joke to the other girl (who technically works under his umbrella now) and pulled out his wallet and acted like he was going to hand her some money and said "OK, are you ready to take my order for what I want for lunch?" I thought it was a kick in the face to everything I have done here for him to make such a chauvinistic, arrogant remark. It made it very clear that even as a joke, we are nothing more to them now than some assistant they can ask whatever they want from. (Not that they would actually do that, but in all jokes are an element of truth.)
We work in a very male dominated industry, so a little sexism unfortunately comes with the territory. However, I thought this was completely uncalled for and degrading.
Am I overreacting? This same person told me 3 years ago that there really isn't much room for me to go up in this company because I am a woman. At the time, I let it go - because it is true. Now, I'm just annoyed and frustrated.
TIA for any input. I need an honest opinion from an unbiased person.

In my experience, I feel that guys always pick on girls. I'm just thinking here to group gatherings/friends/social situations. I hang out with a lot of guys and even in college, I was pretty much the only girl in the group, so I got used to it because that's just how guys are. To some degree, I don't think it's done intentionally. I think guys do it to get a reaction out of the girls.
For example, DBF and his friends LOOOOOOOOOVE to poke fun at one of my (girl) friends who hates Hello Kitty. Almost every week and every time they see her, there is some Hello Kitty reference or gift. She gets sooo infuriated like the world is about to end. But in reality I asked why DBF does it - he said it's because they can and because my friend gets incredibly pissed and they want to see that reaction and make fun of her. Even though they are kidding. They know they can get away with it and will just keep on doing it. Believe me, she knows this, but she keeps putting herself in these situations. Maybe some girls like the kind of "attention" they are getting.
However, I understand how you feel. It's quite shocking and hurtful for something like that to come in a situation after being a "dump all" for the department.

oh speaking of VS, i got some bathing suit pieces -- the cancun blue of the very sexy line is the same color as cancun blue of the forever sexy line, but the material is different!

however, with the background that you've given, it's quite possible that he did not mean it in a lighthearted sarcastic way but rather in a more demeaning way towards women. i think this is something where "you had to be there".
either way, it sounds like your workplace is horrible to women. i would hate that.
i ordered some dvd's from wb for some tv shows and they forgot to pack 1 of them. i had to call about it and i was so worried that they would not believe me because how can i prove that i only received 4 boxes when i should have gotten 5? luckily they didn't give me any trouble. i see their side, but it's unfair for them to be suspicious of you just bc you've had other things go wrong before. they should really consider how much you order and what their failure rate %-wise is.
