I believe that Gmail uses HTTPS by default, which would mean all traffic between you and Gmail is encrypted (and therefore unreadable). Pull up Gmail, and see if it has the little padlock in the address bar.
Ok, I didn't think of that. I use yahoo, which is not https (at least as far as I know)

I know that our company can run reports of websites visited, and if they suspect anything based on that, then they'll do real time survealance.

That's smart Always assume Big Brother is watching.
I think it's not too hard to decode https if you have the whole stream of traffic.
I doubt the local Corportate IT police would go through the trouble though.
Honestly, if the company is out to get you, they don't need hard evidence.
Lots of companies will just log the sites you go to during the day.
If they want to get rid of you, they can pull up the log and just say "hey, you visted a site that was not work related".. including Gmail.. and poof that's it.. no need to read all your mail.

Yep it's better off to not just go on any sites. I'd purposely visit onscure nerdy work related sites if I went online at all. Just bring your phone charger and 3G other surfing mobile.

Oh sure. Chewy doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't understand the project. What do you mean he just pointed out a flaw that leaves our entire project and a year of work dead in the water because we didn't think of that scenario or figure in that variable? You'd better get him to come in tomorrow and help us work on it. What do you mean he said he wasn't coming on a Saturday? Who does he think he is?

Ranting

I'm the guy who just crashed your system and your project within 2 hours of testing it, and you're the folks that haven't been able to find out how to fix it for the last six hours. Give me a call when you get it fixed. Cool2

Oh no . . . . never cook naked. Cold

So what I didn't know is that if I receive a meeting invite and then forward it on to She Who Must Be Obeyed to make her aware of my frustration, the person who sent the invite gets made aware that it was forwarded on and can see the forwarded message. I'll have to remember to not to go on a cursing tirade berating the company I work for when I forward a meeting request to her next time.
