She is one of those dogs that looks filthy for 10 minutes then somehow looks clean again? Sass is a freak of nature laugh out loud

Just finished getting my geek on. My Harmony 880 remote worked last night when I turned everything off, but wouldn't beep when I put it back on the cradle. I figured I'd just reboot it in the morning. Well, in the morning, it acts like everything is working, but it has no apparent effect on any of my equipment. Do some googling, and apparently it's relatively common for the IR emitters to burn out. Opened it up, verified with the camera on my phone that nothing happens when I hit the buttons (and tested known good ones to validate I can see it on the camera). Went through various places in the house looking for old remotes, but I couldn't find any that had two emitters, and couldn't find any that matched.
Then I remembered the RC helicopter I got in my bag of crap that never really worked, and the controller had three IR LEDs, two of which match, and looked close enough to the ones that were in the Harmony. Desoldered them, cut and formed the leads to more or less match the shape of the ones I was pulling off. Removed the bad units, put in the replacements, and it works like a champ again Glasses2
I could have just gone to Radio Shack and bought some LEDs, but I wanted to fix it today, and didn't want to drive into town laugh out loud
They were visibly burned out too, one of the elements in each was brown, versus both being silver like they ought to be.
