Welcome to my world. I spent 20 minutes today, explaining to a supposed "systems analyst" how two different applications in their enterprise interact with each other.

That reminds me of when I had to explain to an entire group why it didn't make sense for me to write the documentation for the web services for their application, since they hadn't written them yet, and I'd never so much as looked at the underlying database structure of their application, nor even seen the application itself, nor had I been provided with any use cases or any other relevant information.

Half of my company develops some plugin or app or something to do with Sharepoint. Today I was talking with one of the lead developers on that project and I admitted to him that I had no clue what his thing does. He was explaining and we started talking about Sharepoint. I told him I couldn't fight my way out of Sharepoint with a head start and a machine gun; he told me he barely knew how to log in. I was like OMG butbutbut you guys make that thing that uses Sharepoint... he was like butbutbut you guys install Sharepoint for us to put our thing on it...

Roll

Also, I hate clients. Last week:

Me: [thing you want to do] is the wrong answer. We should do [other thing] instead.
Client: I agree. Do [other thing].

Today:

Client (in an email, CC: MY BOSS): I told VQ to do [thing I wanted to do] last week and he did [other thing] instead, and now I'm really mad!

Thing is, nobody else will go to this client because of shit like this. Who does she think she's farking? Am I more or less likely to bend over backwards and help her out in a pinch when she stabs me in the back this way?

Thank God I write everything down AND that my boss already knows this client is full of shit.

In retrospect, putting down "omniscience" as one of my skills on my resume probably wasn't such a hot idea.

At this point, I'm not sure anyone actually knows how to use it.

I make sure people email me things for the same reason. They can ask me verbally, and I'll answer them, but if there's no email or ticket, it's not likely to happen.
