You've got to be kidding... I just got a "Your order is ready for pickup" from sears, even though multiple calls said they were out of stock... I'm currently calling to figure out who screwed up where.

I usually just get out the Shop Vac and crevice tool and make sure to get all the dust and stuff taken care of. Mine has the coils on the bottom, if yours are on the back it may be less prone to breeding dust bunnies.

Got my front loader 3.5 years ago on CL and it is running strong. Got an awesome deal because the wife just wanted something pretty and these weren't that old.

We I doubt it's been cleaned in six years...will that make it sound like it's working really hard?

Yup, if the coils are dusty and/or dirty, the compressor cannot shed heat quickly enough, and so it runs longer and longer, which causes heat buildup, which makes it less efficient. It's an ugly downhill slide.
