Head Bang

So, I helped this friend from HS out with putting a PayPal button on her company's website. She put the request on FB, and I was like "SURE! Why not? Not much different from what I'm doing now!" And sent her a message. We got it figured out. Too easy - it was a wordpress site, so I just had to give her a brief tutorial on how to do it.

Then I see this dude has been commenting on her request for help:

I guess anyone that knows the words "JavaScript" and "XML" is a pro now.

I've been working in PL/SQL for eight years now and I'm smart enough to know how much I *don't* know about the language. And that's a helluva lot.

The guy who sits next to me is a farking Java god and an absolute machine when it comes to plowing through some of the roughest code there is. The great thing is, he's a relatively quiet guy and never boasts about his abilities. I've made it a point to tell management how much I think of him, because I don't think he gets nearly half the recognition he deserves.

I don't know much outside of PHP (which is enough to make me useful to the small business I work for) and some MySQL to go along with that. Of course I have to be familiar with (X)HTML, JS/AJAX, and CSS... But HTML isn't really even that difficult of a concept to grasp. I guess it baffles me how many people consider themselves web developers or programmers or "pro coders" because they have a basic understanding of a markup language and can copy/paste things from other websites and modify it to suit their needs.

And then there's the camp that can't do anything without Dreamweaver.

Sigh.

I use to be a chick magnet. Now I'm a tick magnet. I just pulled one off of my arm. Weeping

Sadbye

And then a spider bit me on my neck. I finally killed it when felt it on my head. Annoyed

XML isn't even coding, and JS is only a scripting language Turtle

Well, technically could be XML. It's just an element with an attribute.
I heart XML. You can make anything talk to anything.
