Well my basement flooded last night. Annoyed

Two days of heavy rain left the backyard a swamp and when it came down harder than a cow pissin' on a flat rock yesterday afternoon, that was that. God's way of telling me to clean out all the crap down there, I suppose... water was about 8 inches high across ~930 sq. ft. at the worst. All of my battery backup units got zapped, so my internet is out until I can sort that out. Luckily all my gear was wall-mounted though. I'm at Starbucks borrowing some wifi b/c browsing on my phone frustrates me.

Remediation company was out within an hour and were there until after midnight ripping carpet, cutting drywall, etc. Now there are dehumidifiers and fans running down there for the next 3 days.

No pics until my insurance company makes a decision. They wouldn't verify coverage over the phone. Might be the first time I've been anything other than delighted with USAA.... then again I've never tried to make a claim with them before. Sigh. I guess the adjuster's coming out, I have no clue when. Dontknow

I have two tix for Of Monsters and Men for tonight that I won't be using, but nobody's biting on my CL ad. I was going to give them to the barista I like up here at sbux but he's not working this morning. Annoyed No clue what to do with them now.

That sucks! hug I learned a long time ago that anything kept in my basement needs to be in plastic totes. Although most I have ever had is an 1 1/2 inches of water. I also no longer have a carpet in my basement. I just have a large area rug that I can suck the water out with a carpet cleaner.

LMAO I think the barista I like is. He's a HUGE black guy, I see him at my gym all the time too. He always wants to talk to me about movies. One time I walked in and he goes "hey handsome!" Roll

I haven't been up here as often lately so when I come in & he's here he's like "oh, making a rare cameo appearance are we?" One time I said "excuse me sir, I ALWAYS get top billing!" and he cracked up.

BTW when I say "huge" I mean it, he's always benching like more than I weigh and throwing huge weights around. My gf thinks it's hilarious but any time we come in here together the barista is very subdued. LMAO

Whatever happened to that annoying tennis player?

I was listening to Queen and remembered when he bought their CDs and he didn't know who they were.
i've seen him posting elsewhere. i'm kinda glad he stopped posting here, because his constant questions were really annoying.

which reminds me, whatever happened to HLIM???

Whee story time!!! Whee

i pulled into the gas station this morning to get a fountain soda and one of those chewy trail mix granola bars for breakfast. when i was walking back to my car, i saw this old man (in his 70s at least) standing there pumping gas. he was facing the gas pump, so i was looking at him from the side. he was wearing sweat pants, and he had an ENORMOUS erection. Bigeye

it was sticking straight out and there was no hiding it. i couldn't help but laugh to myself, and then the old man turned his head and looked at me. he saw me smiling and then he started grinning from ear to ear. Biggrin2

it was AWKWARD, to say the least. Roll

Yeah. I went through this whole stage (hell if I'm being honest I'm still clawing my way out of it) where I was buying SDs left and right whether I needed them or not... so a LOT of the stuff down there was NiB although I also had tons of plastic totes to store all that crap in. Most of the important stuff was/is upstairs although I probably lost a couple boxes of paperbacks I wanted to save (the ones I held onto after donating like 27 boxes of them to the local library). I might've also lost some old school papers from elementary, and maybe some yearbooks. I haven't looked yet.

But, the bulk of it was just old computer equipment, random shit I don't need and haven't touched in ages and was thinking about donating or selling anyway. So on that score it's not such a big concern, it just sucks that (a) I had to take off work today to deal with this - because I was taking off Wed - Fri anyway; and (b) I'm not sure if I can go to Portsmouth for the Lumineers concert with my girlfriend tomorrow, like we'd planned.

I have to make a decision about the trip soon so we can cancel the hotel and still get a refund... I really want to still go and there isn't much for me to do here... I'm leaning towards going but have to think about what'll happen (or what won't happen) if I do. I guess that's a quality problem to have, considering. laugh out loud

I opted to tide myself over with a Behringer UCG102.
My best friend has a fairly decent HDD-based multitrack recorder, tube amp for microphones, etc, which is why I don't really need anything laugh out loud

So i call a stop to the project I'm testing because it doesn't work IMO. Turns out I was wrong. When we are in DR mode, they want the customer to be able to walk out of the door with thousands of dollars in merchandise without validating their credit card. Silly me. Facepalm
