F1 if you have to ever go to court or a mediator, it'll be a lot better for you to have a record rather than "well there was this time I was out at the jam and she called me"...

Nothing to stop one, but amazingly enough, most peeps aren't that devious, and if it's made up, then evidence can often be produced that invalidates fudged entries to the point the entire log loses credibility...but an accurate accounting of the truth has a way of scaring the bejeebus out of folks
