Formula One 2013 *possible spoilers in thread*

Things are off to a rocky start in testing. Ferrari's car caught fire and there are some gear box issues, while Hamilton's car had brake failure, causing a minor crash into the barrier, he wasn't hurt though.

And some really sad news today, David Coulthard's 35 year old sister has died at home of what appears to be a heart attack.

Kind of saw that coming. BBC is also reporting that a Ferrari deal with Kimi will be announced anyday now. While I find Kimi to be pretty hilarious, I rather like him on a dark horse team like Lotus. It will be interesting to see what happens in the dynamic between Alonso and Kimi Scratchchin

the further rumor is that Nico will step up to Lotus from Sauber... at least it's a better shot for Nico, but I'd rather have seen him get the Ferrari drive nod

I guess Eddie Jordan was right on with that rumor mill. LOL Something in those crazy shirts give him that power.

I feed bad that Massa's leaving since he was such a loyal driver but he needs to get his mind / confidence back. I worry that he might not get another drive (most likely) and wont be able to get his mojo back and that will stick with him for the rest of his life. Ah man only if the team orders didn't happen with "alonso is faster than you", he may have recovered his mojo after that win and gone onto more wins. His performance the first 14 races last year was horrible and it's time to move on but shoot, feel bad for the guy.

Nico H drove a great race in Monza and glad that he's getting the recognition he deserves for his drive. I remember his drive and forum interview with EJ back a few years from Hungaroring and I liked him from then.

Also, think Paul DiResta should be promoted soon to another top team. I am somewhat disappointed that RedBull promoted from within their program instead of going after another top driver. Kimi can't support Vettel and would drive Vettel crazy as a teammate but someone like DiResta could have worked better.

So disappointed in Mclaren this year. WTF is going on over there. I was hoping for some help in trying to dethrone Vettel the finger boy but they are of no help this year. I wonder if Lewis saw some of this last year and that's why he jumped ship. I also wonder if Shumey would have been able to win a race this year in this year's Merc. Damn hate/love the guy but I miss having him around.

I'm not a big F-1 fan but I've heard pretty good things about this movie. I've heard they stayed pretty true to the cars and technology of the 70s, which must be pretty tough to do. It will be interesting to see how well they managed that. It also sounds like it is much more than just a "racing movie". I'll have to watch it at some point.

I didn't make the connection at first but a lot of this was filmed at Nürburgring in Germany.

My niece and her boyfriend went there this past summer and rented a car to go out and run on the track during one of the public sessions when anyone can drive on it.

Rush - Excellent movie, very well done. The theater was packed, maybe half a dozen empty seats and that may have been due to the weather, it was terrible last night, high winds, power outages, trees/limbs down everywhere. Go see Rush, even if you aren't an F1 fan, the movie is well worth the price of a ticket, and the way it's done, you won't be lost if you don't know anything about F1. 5/5

It's a movie that really does deserve to be seen on a big screen, the filming was just spectacular. The story line was really well done too. Keep an eye out for shots of one of the six wheeled F1 cars.

NBCSports has aired a 30 minute "making of" for Rush prior to the last F1 race, if you have NBCSN, I'd check the channel listing prior to the next race, I'm sure it'll be on sometime that weekend.

I've been a bit too busy to go see Rush this weekend, mostly homework Doh but I'll definitely go see it by the end of next weekend nod

It's the six-wheeled Tyrell, and it shows up in a couple of places.

As to the cars, all of the cars are actual real F1 cars that are "borrowed" from private owners.

I personally saw Rush in one of the new Cinemark "XD" theaters.
Movie is a 5/5.
Theater was a 3/5

There wasn't enough of a difference between the regular theater and the XD theater to make the 50% price difference in the ticket worth it.
Mostly it was due to the graining added to the film in post processing to give it an "older" look and the fact that it was actually too loud in the theater.
I know there are portions of the movie where it was specifically sound designed to have high volume background noise over the top of voices to give it a "hectic" feel, but honestly i found the sound design in this theater to be totally unsatisfying. Mostly due to the theater is my guess.

Pretty good race, I like these late GPs so I can just stay up, I'm much more for staying up instead of waking up early on a Sunday nod fun to watch the twitter feeds, too. Especially Lotus "Korean bbq" as Weber's car went up in flames laugh out loud

very bizarre, but glad to see Lotus and Sauber do well

Can't do racing games or any fast moving video games as I get motion sickness quite easily but thought some of you might be interested in this game launch.

Quote :
F1® 2013 video game launched, with classic '80s and '90s content

Codemasters®' highly anticipated F1 2013 video game is now available for the Xbox 360, Playstation® 3 and Windows PC, featuring classic F1 content from the 1980s and '90s, as well as all the cars, drivers and circuits from the current season.

F1 2013 players will get more from their game with RaceNet, Codemasters' free online community hub. RaceNet will power regular community challenges and enables players to set up Custom RaceNet events. Players can set their own Time Trial scenarios, choosing circuit, weather conditions, car and duration of the event, and challenge their RaceNet friends to compete to set their best time on leaderboards. RaceNet also includes visual stats and game progress updates and every F1 2013 player with a RaceNet account will receive the 1976 Ferrari 312 T2, as starring in the recent film Rush.

F1 2013 is available in two editions. F1 2013 includes the full game of the current season and classic content from the 1980s. Alternatively, fans can choose to purchase F1 2013: Classic Edition, a premium version of the game limited to a run of just 10,000 units in the UK, featuring bespoke box art and expanding the game with 1990s Content and Classic Track Packs. Classic content in both editions is introduced by legendary broadcaster Murray Walker and can be experienced in a range of game modes, including split-screen and online multiplayer.
