Carnival Triumph engine fire; lost power; tug boats pulling it to Mobile, AL.

The 500 or so McDonald's franchisees and executives onboard should at least be used to the conditions if they've spent much time in one of their restaurants.
We cruise on Carnival 5 months from today!
(different ship though)

I also get what you are saying about tax payers picking up tabs on people who dont want to work.. So I guess next time my car breaks down Instead of calling AAA and paying them I should just charge the tax payers? After all they would be rescuing me from being stranded on the road?
FYI, the Triumph entered service in 1999, and the cost was $420 million. If you compare to other ships, either Carnival didn't cheap out, or all cruise lines cheaped out.
Triumph cost = $4137.56 per GT (gross ton)
Royal Caribbean Voyager = $4734.99/GT (1999, but this ship has an ice skating rink, etc)
Royal Caribbean Brilliance = $3885.00/GT (launched 2002)
Norwegian Dawn, and Star (2001/2002) = $4360.15/GT (launched 2001)
And ships are just like airplanes in that the later built ships would cost more than the exact same ship built earlier.
