Should I file a lawsuit? do I have a case?

Last night my girlfriend opened a can of fancy feast cat fod made by Purina to feed my cats.. upon opening it the the can violently exploded everywhere across her face.. It was the most foul, putrid, rancid contents ever.. It shot out with a great force all over her face and on the ceiling walls, etc.. I have tons of pictures documenting the whole disgusting thing, My girfriend was throwing up for half an hour afterwards and became violently ill.. We both had to throw out all of the clothes we were wearing and my house smells 100 times worse than a garbage dump.. We couldn't stay here last night becuase of the smell.. Now I have all of my windows up and it still smells like shit.. There are also stains all over my walls from the guck.. It was not normal cat food it was a black sludge and the most foul thing you could imagine..
Anyways I called Purina and they said it was a handling issue in their factories and that they improperly handled the can when it was cooking. Do you think a lawyer would take this case? Should we be compensated by Purina? Its the worst thing I've ever seen in my life..

You could get a lawyer, but remember that lawyers will take a large lump. Sometimes, you will do better trying to negotiate first yourself. I consider this the tight-ass site. We are all looking for a deal. If the so-called lawyers who have IM you are so successful then why are they visiting the site? I could say Im a lawyer.
My cat is a 21 year old Calico. She lived 19 years on dry Meow Mix. In the last couple of years I had to switched her to wet because she is too old to chew the dry. In those 21 years, she was sick only once. It had been so long ago, but to prevent it from happening again, it was recommended that her (and all cats) food be accessible to her at all times. That is something you cannot do with can cat food.

So, what's the verdict? Did you receive any compensation?

The Companies Big Lawyers played a tremendous game, They manhandled us through a slow grind.. basically they assured us everything would be taken care of and then they slowly let our anger settle down and then they became completely inaccessable and didn't do anything. I did not have the time to waste fighting with them or hiring a lawyer.
I think we got 3 coupons out of the travesty-
We still buy fancy feast
And We got married 3 weeks ago
