Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Yes, very funny. But at least once a year things get screwed up on my computer and I totally depend on aol because it is fast and basically efficient except when I get an email and it is an entry for a facebook sweeps. BUT, when I delete too rapidly and think I permanently deleted something I should not have, I have called them once already this year and they put back about 3 days of deleted mail. That to me is a wonderful thing to have peace of mind. Stick Out Tongue

Problem is they are thousands of homes that need work and only so many contractors to do the work. They can only work so fast. 6 months is about right because they do a re-evaluation. If people are just storing stuff and not doing the work those pods and things could be used be others who need them. Hurricane season is starting up again and they might need some of the resources for the next one so they want people to get with it and get the work done
when I got a haircut the other day, one woman was still waiting for ins. and fema money. Said her time is up with being reimbursed for staying in motels, she still has the house mortgage, etc., has no where to live and no money to continue repairs. I have heard so many sad stories from locals and seeing how bad some of the houses are, i really hope they extend it another 6 months. Some homeowners are doing the work themselves, working full time i guess besides, and living in a mobile home on their property hooked up to electricity. so most are really trying. And the rich on the island need to complete for the summer in order to rent as many are rentals. They get between $1,500 and $1,800 per week for a rental and then like grandson did, people rent for the winter at 1/2 the cost but must be out by May 1st.

Oh, another good thing is that it created more jobs as i said before there is a new storage pod company now - Instant Attic. So truckers bringing and taking and the instant attic company itself. there are a few others also. I am waiting almost 8 months for a contractor. They pick and choose their jobs. They look, promise an estimate and continue on to something easier I think. They are so busy and things are still a mess. Saw on the news they are just now tearing down most of the over 500 beautiful and historical-looking homes in Montaloking which is where the man hit the car in the bay not too long ago. Now there are giant Portugese Man of War jelly fish in our bay. We never had jelly fish. Now that will kill the parasail business in the bay for sure. and no swimming.

I do not print so much since you pointed it out to me. I used to have a very nice man at Staples but he was promoted to a far-away store. So now I really have no one to help except you guys. And with me a little knowledge is so dangerous EEK!

The insurance companies stall as long as possible. If they settle quick be suspicious!!! They always offer you low first. say no and say you will get estimates for them. Their job is NOT to pay out on claims. Thats a hazard of the job. Their job is to save money for the company by not paying or shorting. Fema pays according to who claimed first and they take a while because they investigate so get that in first thing. FEMA gives 6 months at a time and you can ask for extensions up to like 5 or 6 years

That's good. But some peoples' lives are so disrupted with school children and jobs, etc. They placed one couple over an hour away in a motel for a while and her job was here. It will take a long, long time for this whole area and up north to come back. the roller coaster is still in the ocean deteriorating. but that is not so very important. Oh, they said in the paper that the mold/mildew is in the air around the homes that have been repaired and people living in them who live in close proximity to an unrepaired condemned home. And it does get pretty windy here until late June.
