Reddit has a thread of people following it, if you want to google it.

There have been reports of explosives and grenades. Also, a stolen police vehicle. I'm just relaying what others have reported....so who knows.

But I'm old and didn't have to google it. Dontknow

The question is:

Is this guy a coward because he didn't take his own life or would he have been considered a coward if he had?

No. Raise the possibility. Refute it with reason an fact. Raising the extreme allows you to work backwards instead of sitting there like a sheep and accepting what you're told.

1. Buy this boat.
2. Use it to search for and find Bin Laden's body with it.
3. Profit.

Glad they got the guy. This was nice to come home and find out.
Quote from 1stBuy :
There's a big difference between ANY of the criminals you mentioned and terrorists who kill random innocent people.

These guys are going around wrecklessly still tossing around bombs out of windows and even ambushed a cop for no reason at all. Your 'run of the mill' murderer, rapist, purse-snatcher tends to avoid confrontations like this, they also normally have traceable evidence/pattern which detectives and/or the FBI can follow.

I'm from the DC area. I know EXACTLY how the DC sniper situation played out. My family and friends were very close to several of the shootings and life was flipped upside down for us for a while. In that scenario there was no reason to go door to door, although they killed FAR more people than these two criminals.

It's not as clear cut as you think it is, there is profiling being done, but these types of decisions are always handled on a CASE by CASE basis.

People who get stuck on the "rights" issue tend to see everything as a protocol, everything needs to be by the book. A very strict "if this, then that". These types of situations are all unique. There is no step-by-step here, its a touch and go scenario.
Funny you should mention the DC sniper. I also live in the DC area and I was here when those guys were driving around shooting random people. What I can't figure out is what part of that situation is even remotely similar to Boston. The cops had literally NO CLUE where the sniper(s) were, what they were driving, where they might show up. Remember how every white box truck was being stopped for a couple of days there?

Now, if the situation had been "snipers confined to small suburb" (like, say, Clifton or Burke - I'm not even sure you could say "Fairfax" and have it be small enough) there might be similarity. Did you want the cops to search every house in the entire DC metro area? Or was there another point you were making that I'm not getting here?

What concerns me is this "case by case" statement, this idea that "well it'll be okay this time, they have a good reason." Anybody remember that famous quote by Martin Niemöller:

Quote :
First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.
Who gets to decide what circumstances warrant suspension of our rights? And how do we know that decision has been made in good faith and by the proper authorities?

My point is that you don't just get to decide with your gut what I have to do with my life/property/domicile/etc. Just because YOU'D let them in - lacking any other information - doesn't mean you get to tell me I can't ask some questions or stand up for my rights.

That's funny considering you dismiss reality. You know . . . . we wanted real reform because of all of the mass killings using guns. Never mind that all of the mass shooters were on psychotropic drugs and played games simulating killing people on a regular basis.

It didn't hit me until I heard a third of fighter pilots were going to be grounded because of the sequester. Turns out their training will be supplemented with simulation . . . . video games.

Then it hit me . . . simulation is how you train. Call of Duty, GTA, Medal of Honor, Gears of War, etc., they're all training tools. Yet we have nothing in your recent gun ban that failed to pass to address medication (other than restricting rights) and video game violence. No. We have the 94 gun ban and then some.

Wow. It's almost like they want to restrict gun ownership instead address the problem. My "joke" was that the government would rather go after the tool (in this case a pressure cooker which the majority of people use legally) and make them criminal.
