Knitters/Crocheters

I know that there are a few of you.
I have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm attempting some new things. I'm actually using patterns now, where before I just knitted whatever came about. Big Grin

I'm beginning to realize that I only have small needles and I'm becoming a yarn snob.

I knitted a hat for my nephew, one for myself (no patterns), a baby-carrier (no pattern), and now I'm going to start working on some fingerless gloves.

Anyone else? Any deals on good yarn, needles, etc.?

I need a bunch of skeins. I'm knitting baby blankets for Twins, in those colors. I need a lot of yarn, LOL

TNSC- Let me know if you find your yarn. I live by two giant Joann's and they never seem out of stock of anything. I think at 40% off (we would be couponing of course!!!) it's less than $2 per skein. I drive by almost every day.

I finished the bag last night. :yay:
I was just uploading pics of both and the darned batteries went dead I will post them as soon as they charge.

I still haven't been to buy any new needles or yarn for the cozy yet. I think we'll probably go out tomorrow and I will try to remember to pick some up.

I did get a knitting tutoral this morning. I was flipping channels and found a knitting show on HGTV and they were making socks! OMG! Yahoo! laugh out loud But, I still can't make those either because I don't have any double sided needles. Ranting They were really pretty though somehow they were stitching them to look like lace on the top. I need to live near a craft store so every time I needed something I wouldn't have to drive an hour to get it.

Not sure of the name of the show but I recorded it, Next week the show will have a sweater tutoral. Big Grin

Also, watching the gal with the socks. I need to learn continental. It looks so much easier. Almost like crocheting. No slinging your arm and having shoulder pains. Stick Out Tongue

Here's the green bag. It's supposed to be the large version of the shopping bag I posted. I did the handles 28 stitches so the kids can carry it on thier shoulder. It doesn't look right to me though.

I couldn't get the maroon bag pic to take correctly. It keeps looking like a black blob. I tried outside, inside on the chair, even on the white washing machine but it isn't cooperating. It's stretched out a bit from being packed with the kids toys he's been lugging since I made it.

Aggie, I started the coffee cozy and it seems big. What size cup is it supposed to fit? I put it on my tumbler and it's a 20 something oz and it seems to fit it. ...Dunno if I am doing something wrong, I'm using an f hook and red heart 7oz yarn.

(Askin cause I don't drink coffee and have never bought coffee or anything at Sbux or other and don't know.)

I'm using a worsted weight yarn - 4 ply I think? Anyhoo - it's a bit big for a Sbux Tall cup. I'm going to cut it down to 45 stitches next time. It fits a cold drink nicely! If you go to Sbux they'll give you some cups if you ask nicely. Grin I've got a set of cold and hot cups now!

I think the closest starbucks is about 40 miles away. So I won't be getting one anytime soon. lol. I can't make myself drive to Dallas it scares me. All of those interchanges and overpasses and hov lanesEEK!

I'm just making this to see if I can do it. I am making it yellow and I have some of that yellow fun fur left from the hat I made last year maybe I'll do what you said and attach some on the top and bottom. The kid will probably take it as well, he will probably use it as some alien talker bracelet or leg shackles from planet yaloofloom. LMAO

Multi-tasking FTW! Rock I'm making one for cold beverages, so if you go to a place locally that has hot or cold cups you can adjust it as needed. The problem I'm having is joining the ring so it doesn't turn into a Mius [wikipedia.org]. laugh out loud

LMAO Mine did the same I was like WTF is wrong!OMG I finally got it to straighten up holding it with my teeth and both hands. lol. It's got a hump where the end meets the begining. (~ kinda like that) I have completed three rows I believe, but it still seems wonky. I am going to take a pic in a bit and probably pull it apart. I think I am going to wait on the next project. laugh out loud

One of the boys wants a yellow scarf so I'll probably see if I can't throw one together.

I got an email from Lion a couple weeks ago with a gorgeous scarf that I have in my to do list. It's listed as easy but I need more practice.

I just got the CUTEST hat/scarf from a knitter in Hong Kong. I should aspire to knit so well, one day.

And to that end, I have decided to attend some knitting circles and hope to glean some knowledge from people better at it than I am.
