I know that there are a few of you.
I have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm attempting some new things. I'm actually using patterns now, where before I just knitted whatever came about. Big Grin

I'm beginning to realize that I only have small needles and I'm becoming a yarn snob.

I knitted a hat for my nephew, one for myself (no patterns), a baby-carrier (no pattern), and now I'm going to start working on some fingerless gloves.

Anyone else? Any deals on good yarn, needles, etc.?

Learning to knit is fairly simple. Get a good book from the library, and take advantage of sites like knittinghelp.com! Also, many knitting techniques are able to be viewed at youtube.com and google video!

I finished my scarf and dug out my circular needles (I really didn't like the last thing I tried to make on them), printed out the pattern for the hat and am off to knit. If you hear swearing it's only me.

So the needles help you keep things spaced out correctly, right? That's my down fall with crocheting... I can never manage to keep everything spaced out correctly.

Nope, the needles keep the stitches open. In crocheting apparently you bind off with each stitch, but knitting keeps all the stitches open until you bind off in the end.

I've never crocheted before... but I know that the biggest thing on spacing it correctly is tension. I knit WAY too tight, so I have to purposefully try to knit looser... whereas other people knit too loose and they drop stitches that way or end up with holey knits (I think... I've only been doing it for a little while, so I couldn't tell ya).

Blush I'm a loose knitter for socks, but a tight knitter for other things. When I'm doing straight knitting, I knit continental style....that seems to make tighter stitches. Working on some socks now. I LOVE this yarn. It's called ICE CREAM SUNDAE! It's chocolate and strawberries melting into vanilla ice cream!

I'm halfway through hat #2. I was going to finish it the other night but we started watching Heroes and I sat there with the stuff in my lap the whole time. laugh out loud It's such an easy pattern - once you get the first 4 rows done it's lightning fast.
