. . . . . said the doctor to my bride when she had two of my kids in for their wellness visits today. What does that have to do with anything? And the doc didn't let up. My bride kept telling her that she doesn't need to answer that question; so the doc asked it multiple times throughout the visit.

I've always enjoyed your simple sense of humor. I forgot how much fun we use to have in the 3rd grade calling people "retarded" and saying words like "smithereens". Thanks for bringing that back. Cheers

Frankly, I don't remember anything like that when I was in the third grade. But then I kept going to school/college/grad school for quite some time thereafter. I suppose if I was mustered out of school in the 3rd grade, as you were, I'd remember a lot more about the experience! bulb

That's not really the appropriate way to use "mustered", Mister College Graduate. I can't really say it's 100% incorrect, but it certainly doesn't fall in line with generally accepted usage.

Exactly. Anyway, the reason that doctors ask about guns in the home is because it's a risk factor for accidental childhood deaths. From the American Academy of Pediatrics:
