Welcome:
The SD.net Texas Hold'm Tournament has been running strong for over a year and a half now and we continue to welcome new players. Drop a quick post in the thread and introduce yourself!
Summary from final 2007 event:
Week 13: (Written by Rammy)
Max was the monster of the tables early, knocking out people left and right and threatening people with his stack until folks started standing up to him and then it was sayonara! (despite a few humorous suckouts to stay alive) Bobby tried to beat the record of being out the earliest in the tournament but even that he mussed up, going out in the 3rd hand (I went out in the 2nd in week 11). Iconian followed soon after, apparently missing his little buddy and RL joined for a glorious threesome to play turbos to our amusement.
Mav had control of the table the last part of the tournament and Schly bubbled yet again avoiding paying out his "bad beat prize" which he's only ponied up 3x this quarter. Goatroper donated her chips to Rammy (thanks hon) which brought me nearly even to Mav. We swapped a few small chips until we were both all-in preflop and my KQ beat his Ace rag. This gave me the 3rd win this tournament (the most anyone has won in a quarter fwiw) and the first ever back-to-back tournaments (3rd & 4th quarter).

Tournament Format:
- Tuesdays, 9pm on PokerStars.com, $5+0.50 entry fee each week
- Open to all Loungers and they can invite guests (on approval & must be over 18 to play)
- Additional SlickDealers are welcome to apply to participate, PM to apply - I'd prefer newcomers from HotDeals to have 50 posts to apply or provide me OTs in exchange for the password
- Weekly password is selected from previous week's winner (if password not selected by Friday night, winner gives up right of selection)
- Winners of each event are expected to write event summary (or forfeit points for that event)
- Points accumulate with each game played, champion crowned each quarter
- Seeking additional sponsors for the event - ie participants welcome to supply promotional items from their business or even regifted Christmas gifts. Please PM me if you'd like to supply something.
- Championship event (end of 2007) will match all quarterly/annual winners in a higher stakes game (open for discussion)

Previous Week Writeups:
Week 12: (Written by KBM)
Small showing for this week's event, I believe the tally was 14 people, including an appearance by the elusive bobbyfk. I believe it was the Schly that pointed out that the top 3 from last week were the bottom 3 this week. I doubled up after reaching the final table by going raising against the chips-leader chessmany3k (I don't even know who this is on SD BTW?) all-in with 99 against his A9. The pair held up and I was back in the mix. I floated along early until the about ~6 people were left. We had seen the bullets broken not once but twice including an unorthodox

We saw a signature survival mechanism by iconian by spamming "7" into the chat field and catching his 7 on the turn to make his set (or is it trip?) to survive his all-in manuever against chessmany3k. This left chessmany3k with nothing left, and he was eventually knocked out by iconian. It finally came down to myself, vec, mavtech, iconian and RL007, with me and RL007 shortstacked and vec with 2x the chip stack of the next closest. No significant changes in chip standings for about 25 hands, until RL007 was knocked out by vec when vec's Ax caught an A on the flop and stood up against RL's pocket 8's.
Nothing again for about 25 hands, then the magic happened - first hand I snagged pocket Aces and vec raises it up. I figure I'm the short stack, I've got to make something happen so I re-raise and go all-in, he calls, and my rockets hold up against his ATo. This puts me on top of the leaderboard with ~7k in chips.
No less than FOUR hands later, the bullets come to see me again. Once again vec raises it up before it comes to me. Iconian re-raises and goes all in with about 1.5k, and I call. Flop brings nothing and me and vec both check, turn is yet another Ace, so I raise it up, vec folds, and I reveal the Aces (much to the horror of sir iconian and his pocket 5's) This leaves me sitting very pretty with 11k, vec with 3.5k and mavtech with 6.5k. This time, a mere 5 hands later, KK comes stumbling into my lap, and wouldn't you know it vec raises it pre-flop, I re-raise it to force vec all-in and the KK hold against his 88. Vec played a great game, and it was ridiculously unlucky that everytime he raised pre-flop I had top pair.
Me and mavtech went into head to head, with KBM having about a 3x lead in chips. We fool around for about 15 hands until he goes all-in pre-flop, and I call it with pocket 9's against his KJo. He catches his J on the river, but wouldn't you know it I catch a 9 as well. The trips hold up, and I get my first win in the SD tournament

Week 11: (By Shur1k3n)
The night started off to a great start as I was dealt KQo, AKo, then AA all within the first four hands of the tournament. On Aces, I raised it to $120 pre-flop with the aces hoping I would get a call by AK/AQ/pockets. Rammy called me and flop came 94K. I bet the pot hoping he would place me on AK/KQ and put more loot into the pot. The turn brought 8s (pairs the board) opening up the flush and straight draws and that's when I pushed. To my surprise, Rammy [AK] called without hesitation and I took it down with my Aces and Eights over his Kings and Eights.
The tournament kept at a steady pace after that—everyone was taking pots except for poor Shill who was missing EVERYTHING. He went on to ramble about how he was being robbed by PokerStars. Well, in fact his theory did hold: I hit my overs to his missed pocket pairs TWICE and Bess(ie the Cow?) hit her countless flush draws to destroy his superior hands. The next notable hand was wuzzy's T8h which turned flush (and straight) on the river, but couldn't stand up against Nancy's slow-played pocket 9s which turned quads on the turn. Wuzzy went all-in several hands after that with ATs vs. Shill's AKo. Not only did Shill hit his K on the flop, but went on to hit runner, runner flush to knock Wuzzy out of the tournament—roast Guinea pig, anyone?
The next elimination came with Mav's ATs vs. trip's QQ which was a self-explanatory hand. At about hand #66 of the tournament, it went to one-table. *** NOTE: I would like to add that iconians pushed with K5? suited to a flush draw flop and missed completely to get taken out of the tournament—DONK MOVE! He did, however, have a great time watching the remainder of the game from the "Bench of Losers", as Sev so eloquently called it, while eating his pwncakes. We should all point and laugh at him. ***
Entering the second half of the tournament, I found myself low on chips after having a lead for the majority of the first half. On hand #98, I was dealt ATo and flopped two pairs (TAK flop). I knew I had to push here, get called by someone with a straight and/or flush draw, and make a move to stay in the tournament. I was called by trip who held KJo and no Q on the turn or river saved me from redline. After that hand, trip was in trouble to the increasing blinds. He had to push back-to-back the next two hands and found himself short both times playing KQo to Shill's AT, then A5s to Shill's AJo. My next double up for me came when BB called my all-in post-flop (she held 8s), after I hit my K over card on the flop, and did not see her set (or runner, runner quads) on the turn or river.
In five-handed, RL's KQ were not enough to break sev's KK who went on to double up (and take all but $491 from him in the $200/$400 blind level). RL pushed all in next hand with 4s which held, then again on the next hand with Ks to save himself from a bubble-out and elevate to a playable stack (*lol* @ Nancy). Still in five-handed, I called BB's all-in w/55, but did not hit either my A or K. That hand hurt me significantly, but I managed to win a few pots bluffing out of my ass. Finally, I was dealt KQo, a moderately strong hand. I raise 3x the big blind to 1200 and Nancy pushed with AKo for about 450 more into the pot. The flop delivered my Q, but she had an over and a straight draw on the turn and river. Unfortunately for her, she could not handle my luckbox and went to sleep! P.S. Suck-out or not, this is payback for all the shit talking from a few months back. *LOL*
With four of us left and one away from money, RL pushed with KJo, and was called by sev's AJs which walked. The final three was back-and-forth, but eventually I hit an Ace high flush which I slow-played and stole 4k from sev's stack! *LOL* At that point, both BB and I were sittin' comfortably at 10k+ to sev who had around 1k. He pushed with pocket Aces, but with such a cheap call, found both BB and I in the hand. The flop ten and turn ten gave me trip Ts to break sev's rockets and finish him 3rd. Heads up was nothing really that special and was decided rather quickly: 16 hands. I bluffed my ass off and reraised pre-flop every opportunity and found myself with a commanding 4:1 chip lead over BB. On hand #210, I was dealt 8s and she pushed with AJo. The flop brought her over A, but the turn delivered my 2-outer 8 to give me a set and take her out!
Week 10: (by Iconian)
The game started with some excitement. primarily by luckboxes like me or slowplaying monsters like in arjun's case. Arjun 1st limped with KK and flopped a set and took out mav who pushed with kq. mav then proceeded to rant(i happen to enjoy them). I didnt catch crap all night and when i got AA's i minimum raised it and got called by 3, includng tripp. Flop was Kxx, few reraises later i was all in with tripp holding KK, runner/runner ace high flush and tripp was out. We saw other donkoffs tonight, sevillada's AA almost got owned by vec flopping 2 pair, but river paired the board and vec was history. rambo pushed with flush draw later and got called by peachy who flopped 2 pair. turn gave rambo flush but river gave peachy fh; gg rambo. Final three wasn't very eventful except for nancy bulling the heck out of rl and i, in the end rl pushed on my BB with qt i called with 99 and survived. headsup was pretty short, i suspect nancy was tired and sleepy and started catching shit for once. i quickly got top pairs a few times and went from 3:1 underdog to chip leader, in the end i raised with AJ, flopped 2 pair, bet and she folded, final hand with j9 i got tripps on flop and she bet into me with no avail. Thats's all folks!
Cliff Notes Version: (by Rammy)
Hell froze over as Mav, Tripp, and Vec were the first 3 out and Iconian finalized his deal with the Devil and came into the money for the 4th time in 5 weeks.
Week 9: (by RL007)
It was a great night with the glorious return of goatroper. With Mav and Rammy out early we could actually play some real poker.

Week 8: (by Chessmany3k)
I FINALLY WON!!!!! I have made 4 or 5 final tables in huge multi's this year with over 1000 players that did not take as long as this 15 man sit and go (J/K...but dont think im good down in sit go big time). Once I rivered Rammy and knocked him out, it was easy pickings for the rest of the tournament. Seriously it was fun to play with Iconians and SirNutsalot1....but it was more fun takin em ....I have two words for iconians 'Big Slick' and 3 words for Sirnutsalot....'YES I DID!!!!'...had to talk a lil smack: yall my dogs. Well, I have to wrap it up...gotta get on the HALO 3....(If you dont got it...GET IT)!!!!
Week 7:
With his lazy ass in place, Sev (as called by Rammy) prepared to get some money, after lost all 50 bux ( and 50 cents) in his account when he tried to bluff and found his oponent with pocket aces in a $1/$2 no limit table. So with $0 in hand, sev headed into the SD poker tourney looking for his first win, which he obtained after only one or two suckouts. All that after getting pocket aces five times (*hands his share of the pot to the dealer* ) a few 10s and Q's and K's, etc He was lucky indeed. He managed to pull out about 5K chips from Mavtech with a flush (almost straigth flush with ten high) when Mavtech also had flush (and also almost stright flush) but with 8 high.. phew!
Rammy and Iconian fought fiercely but couldn't fight Sev's luck. Iconians appeared to be pretty happy with the results, since many times het wrote * signs in the chat (I assume they mean hapyness ) Rammy said Sev was lucky, which may have been true... (Rammy's Note: Sev got pocket rockets FIVE TIMES) There were other suckouts, but I was mainly worried on keeping my chips and forgot to pay much attention to that. Mavtech was watching heroes and didn't pay much attention, but he was playing well, until I took his chips Imsleeping was playing well, but he was pu$$y at times and let his chips go
the winner hand?
Sev had 9's full of 6's while Icon was happy he had gotten a straight (ten high)
Week 6 : (by Rammy)
All you need to know:
Rammy's Qs vs Tripps Ks (all-in prelfop ... a Q came up)
Rammy's A10 vs. Mav's AQ (all-in preflop ... board was 10-5-10-10-5 to knock out Mav)
Rammy's A3 vs Tripp's K2 (724 flop ... all-in, runner runner flush, 14k pot for Rammy)
Rammy's A6 vs Tripp's AJ (both all-in after AQ6 flop for 18k pot for Rammy ftw)
Week 4 Summary:(by imsleepinq aka xzempt)
I knew something special was going to happen tonight when early on I was able to bluff iconians for a 490 pot ( 3rd diamond showed up on river and i was 100% sure he had top pair and chasing a str8 bet the pot like I had the flush and he folded) Sorry Icon. A few hands later got dealt JJ and flop was J66, decided to slow play these and checked until turn it was a K and just so happens dean_siu had AK so at that point he bet... i reraised and then he went all in.. i called and you know how it goes...
From then on i kept getting pockets and really good cards... next memorable hand was when only shill, rammy and myslef were left. I got dealt 33 and rammy decided to push preflop with ATd with how my hands have been tonight I had to call with pockets... (was really hoping to beat rammy with KJ tho) jk
HU with Shill I thought was going to be a challenge..The dealer was really helping me tho.. we played back and forth a few hands... then came the final hand... Shill decided to go all in with JQ I had AK so I had to call Hit my K on the river and it was game over!
Week 3 (by Rammy)
Normally these writeups are all about me, such as my (accidental) brilliant call of Mav's all in placing my 56o against his 5-10o and catching the straight to knock him out (hey, I had pot odds), but noooo, this tournament was all about CCJ. The woman caught pocket Jacks 7 times by my count (no joke) and it seemed like every time she bet, folks were scared she was holding pocket something or other. She ended up with 28 pocket pairs (shown) in 330 hands ... that's almost 1 per BB. Epic battle between the sandwich maker and I going head to head, it went about 50 hands played and see-sawed back and forth a few times. (btw Props to CCJ, she sat out while I took a much needed break and I repsect that ) I was on the ropes and was able to reraise her with AK vs. A9 which got me back in the game (bringing us about even) then another monster of AQ vs. A9 knocked CCJ out for good. Never play A9 hon

Week 2 (by Schly)
At six up, the final players were: Shill Player, RL007, Shur1k3n (playing with Rammy's chips), Killerbootsm, and Random Girl and Icon on short stacks, and not getting many cards. Killerbootsm got knocked out with middle pair against shur's trip 8's on the turn. Then Random Girl made a few aggressive plays on decent hands to come back from 900 chips to over 6K in chips in about 5 hands flat but went out fifth with A10 against Icons AK with no hit on either hand.
RL got taken out on the bubble with A10 suited against shur's pocket QQ. RL ended up with a wheel draw and a nut flush draw on the turn but missed it all on the river. Queens held to take him out. Shill finally took out Icon in third after a long three way battle. AJos to to KQos.
With shur and Shill heads up, it went back and forth and up and down a for 10 or 20 hands before Shur pushed the remainder of Rammy's chips in the middle with a weak Ace. Schly willingly called with a strong ace and PS did it's typical 4 card flush to get me a bracelet. There IS a bracelet, right?
Week 1:
Bogey419 won this event beating out Mavtech. Who are you? I dunno but CCJ has a sweet rack

How Points are Awarded:
This spreadsheet uses the PokerStars TLB ranking formula. I've modified it to give points to every player that plays each week, not just the top 15%. That rewards participation more than average finish. It therefore encourages folks to show up every week and have a good time.
The formula used to determine the total points awarded to a player for any given tournament is:
Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]
Where:
n is the number of entrants
k is the place of finish (k=1 for the first-place finisher, and so on)
b is the buy-in amount in dollars (excluding PS administrative fee).

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO excited to play some omaha cash games out there! If I recall the last time I was out there at the 3/6 limit omaha table at excalibur, they had a bad beat bonus going too. That will be SOOOOOO much fun!!!!!!
