How to generate your own $10 off $50 coupon

With Staples blocking sign-ups from common free email services, it is now more challenging to generate coupons. But have no fear, there are still many ways to go about it. Here is an overview of the easiest way.

You'll first need to buy a domain name. Check out registrars like namecheap.com and name.com, and shop around for deals.

Then, sign up with an email service provider that offers a "catch-all" mailbox feature. This means that emails sent to any address at your new domain will automatically be collected into that catch-all mailbox, essentially giving you unlimited email addresses. For example, if your domain is example.com, emails sent to [email protected] (fill in the blank with whatever you want) can be automatically sent to [email protected]. No need to create new email accounts.

Gmail via Google Apps for Business [google.com] offers the catch-all mailbox feature, as does many other email service providers. It's also possible that your domain registrar included email services when you bought your domain from them (though they may not necessarily offer a catch-all mailbox). Search around for a service that you like.

This sounds complicated and time consuming, but it's really not. Feel free to PM me if you need some general advice about the process. -Olafur

Outdated, but still relevant, information:

Thank you to NoMoreStaples

"Valid through 1/31/14 in Staples® U.S. stores only. Minimum purchase requirement of $50 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies. Tax is not included in calculating the minimum purchase. Not valid on desktop or laptop computers, LCD/LED displays, tablets, netbooks, Apple® products, Bose® products, Amazon Kindle®, NOOK®, Epson® ink and toner, custom printing orders placed online, all Copy & Print self-serve and computer workstation, gift cards, mobile phones and mobile phone services, Staples® EasyTech(sm) professional-grade and on-site services, depot repair and parts, phone cards or postage stamps. Each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon, applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax. Coupon not valid if purchased or sold and must be surrendered. No cash/credit back. Not valid on prior purchases or on purchases made with Staples® Procurement or Convenience Cards."

Note: Even though the stated expiration date is 1/31/14, it is shown 4/4/14 on the printed receipt. So in some cases, the coupons could be redeemed after 1/31/14 with some talking to Staples cashier/manager.

Rewards member or not, value of being able to shop at staples > $10. They will track you using Name, CC#, address etc.

So far I have not done single online purchase with Staples except 2 x 200 GC with $20 off coupon. and $25 cashback with $100GC from Amex sync.

So I dont worry much.

So use it in store, use a prepaid card, don't give a reward number, can't be blacklisted.

Most stores follow this "rule"
1) no coupons on GC orders
2) no prepaid cards on GC orders

That's a sure way to kill these coupons way before the expiration date. Don't be short sided. You can use this multiple times on MM deals, etc, instead of using it on GCs and losing them fast.

Yeah, that's a double-no-no, but who cares, right? As long as he gets a $10 discount now.

It works for all GCs. Checked with The Home Depot Gift Card, $50 (Email Delivery) and took $10 OFF.
Sure way to kill a good coupon, chief. This Q is worth a lot more in the long run than your 1 or 2 GC deals.
