When asked if the company will honor items sold to customers at the mistakenly low prices, Jariwala said the company is "still working through those details."

While United Airlines recently honored some $10 tickets offered by mistake on its site, a retailer does not have to honor an error, especially if it is the result of hacking.

"oh the company would have so much good publicity and goodwill if they honored the price mistake"..
But come on, this is SD.. One week later: A SDer needs to buy something.. If that same item is 1 cent cheaper elsewhere, they aren't going to remember how cool Walmart was on the price mistakes. They are going to buy it where it's the cheapest.
Not to mention, if Walmart honors this price mistake, the next price mistake will have everyone ordering 10X as much and getting even angrier when Walmart doesn't honor it again..
I don't always say this, as a matter of fact I have never said this. Fill me in on how many price mistakes make ABC news? This isn't a single price mistake, there were hundreds, if not thousands of items that were wrong.
I could not care less, I was not expecting a TV at that price... however if there are more news stories about this that are reported I bet walmart agrees with me.
Also, if walmart makes another price mistake like this... than someone should lose their job....
Yes, but only once per week...I'm not freaking superman here.
uhh that means HELL NO we will not honor prices
You are right for saying people have no reason to complain, but walmart could have and should have turned this into something else instead of cancelling orders (and this is not me being upset for not getting an 1100$ tv for 350). Now they get bad press for letting this happen and upsetting customers (justified or not), instead of a happy story about people getting cheap things.
perspective I guess
Not to mention your total logic fail! If an employee makes a mistake, the company should still honor it. What if the mistake was in the interest of the company and not the consumer?

"Dear Customer,
Last night and this morning we experienced a technical error that caused many items to show incorrect pricing. We are working to quickly resolve the issue. Unfortunately, given the wide discrepancy in pricing, we have canceled your order.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and will be sending you an email with a $10 e-gift card (one per customer) within the next 5 days. We appreciate your business and look forward to you visiting walmart.com again soon.
Sincerely,
Your Walmart.com Customer Service Team"

"The issue has been resolved and Walmart.com is open for all," Walmart spokesman Ravi Jariwala told ABCNews.com. "Given the wide discrepancy in pricing, we are notifying customers who ordered these items that their orders have been canceled and that they'll be refunded in full. In addition, we will send these customers a $10 e-gift card that can be used toward future purchases at Walmart stores and Walmart.com."

If you buy an item from walmart, and get charged more... You notice and go back, they will fix it. I do t even know what mistake you could make to benefit walmart that the consumer would not notice.
