read this http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wa...d=20804317
When asked if the company will honor items sold to customers at the mistakenly low prices, Jariwala said the company is "still working through those details."
and this http://www.turnto23.co m/money/con...ite-hacked
While United Airlines recently honored some $10 tickets offered by mistake on its site, a retailer does not have to honor an error, especially if it is the result of hacking.

They have no obligation is correct, but they do make people happy by selling cheap shit... most of it is cheap shit which is why it costs so little.... The fact that I have to explain my point again makes me want to forget how to type.
CHEAP NATIONWIDE ADVERTISING!!!!!!!! if you were some company in bumblefark iowa that ran an appliance store... and you sold 30,000 dollars worth of merchandise that should have cost 75,000 because of a mistake and the news picked up your story and people started buying your shit... that is worth way more than the 45k hit. Does walmart need more publicity ? no, do they need more sales? yes... they always do.
the appliance guy needs the advertising because they aren't a world brand

In regards to appliance man, not everyone is born a world brand... and taking advantage of things like this can get you there (the fake situation). And you are right, maybe walmart doesnt need to, and they are lazy... and cater to the "cheap" demographic so this works for them. But to me a higher end brand would have ran with this.
I think you are getting me on your side, but it is because of what walmart is as a brand, instead of them being a world brand if that makes sense.
Love how you used a bunch of words in English, and failed to make any sense.

if it were a hundred thousand then sure they could absorb it without any problem but we don't know any facts

Giving everyone every sale and causing a circus would not be as beneficial.
This is not to say that the plan would have even worked but they took a serious hit anyway as many people were able to get their items (allegedly), so that is the whole reason I started this conversation... they could have embraced this a little more instead of lying to customers and giving people 10 dollars.

2) if they wanted people to talk about them in a positive light there are better ways they can do that.... like onshoring manufacturing of goods or increasing their pay to employees from minimum wage to a living wage, or offering all employees health insurance regardless of the number of hours they work
And what does honoring the price mistake actually accomplish? That you're incompetent? Create loyalty? Seriously?

This is not a change of their business plan for the future, just a different way of handling what happened yesterday... everything goes back to normal the next day. Although I do agree with what you are saying, but I am not trying to change walmart.
a perfect fit here!
