The *official* "Screw you Bill Belichick, get the hell out of my favorite sport, you're ruining the game" thread about the lack any New England Patriots sportsmanship (Now w/ POLL)

24,860 1,948 October 28, 2007 at 05:44 PM in Rant
Quick open letter to the head coach of the Patriots:

Dear Mr. Bill,

You're the head coach of the best team in football, congratulations on your tremendous efforts. Now fark off and leave the sport to those that do not just consider it simply a business because you're sucking the fun out of the game and ruining this sport for not only fans of the teams you embarass, but kids that are learning about something you seem to totally lack: sportsmanship.

Its easier to explain Janet Jackson's floppy booby during a wardrobe malfunction than the planned and continued deliberate actions taken by the players under your direction. Sure its your job to win games, are you not good enough to do it without constantly skirting the rules, using deception and just out and out farking cheating? You're a dirty, unkempt, embarassment to the game.

Get the hell out of the sport.

Sincerely,
- Fans of the NFL and the ultimate purveyors of your salary

New poll should be "Will the Patriots ever win another Super Bowl with Bill Belichick as head coach?"

I wonder how many NE fair weather fans will cry foul when pay back day is due for NE.

Heh. Most NE fans have been fans since the beginning, just like every other sports team in Boston. There are very few "fair-weather" fans for any sport in Boston. I bleed black and gold and I'm disappointed every year the Bruins get smacked around, doesn't mean I won't be excited once they finally get together a good team. Most of New England sticks by through sports teams no matter what.

Amen to that. It's good to be any Boston fan now and the fans are just loving it. Hell, I would too. But when things get bad again, then it will all be switched around

I've got to disagree with you on that. I've see so many Red Sox fans popping in the past year. This may be different for the city of Boston, but the team itself is one of the most "bandwagoned" teams in the nation for the past 3 years.

I think you're confusing Boston/New England teams with the Yankees. Wink

Maybe it's the opposite where I livelaugh out loud
For example, on of my school mates just made a group on facebook called "Red Sox rule!!!" and about 30 kids join and post shit like "Red Sox are the best!" "We're going to the playoffs" and "Yankees suck" Yet I don't think I've seen one of them wearing a Red Sox jersey or hat to school.

I live in Philadelphia. For years (i.e. at least 5-10 years), all I see is that stupid "NY" and hear people talking about how the Yankees are the greatest team to ever play any sport. I swear, with the way people around here talk about them, you'd think they really believe that the Yankees could start winning basketball games against the Celtics and football games against the Patriots. It's seriously ridiculous. Meanwhile, I haven't heard too many people jumping on the Boston bandwagon. I think the Red Sox have been the dark horse for a few years, and people are finally just glad that the Yankees are the ones sweating, and maybe that is why more people like them. Whenever a team is really good for a long time (think old-school Celtics or old-school Chicago Bulls, the Nebraska Cornhuskers during the 90's, etc.), people choose to either love 'em, or hate 'em.

Haha seriously quit whining about NE running up the score. NE, Belichick, & Brady are slimy that's for sure, but this is professional sports here. Even the losers are getting paid many thousands of dollars to play that one game they get whooped in. Buffalo once lost a game it was up by 35 in the 4th quarter - I'm sure they were saying things like "oh we're up by so much, it doesn't matter if we slack off & let them score here". In professional sports, you put your foot on their throat until the clock runs out, just like someone will do to them at some point this year or next.

And for those Red Sox fans who don't think people have just popped out of the woodwork since 2004, remember Hollywood was even in on it by filming the end of that Fever Pitch movie on the field after they won. Hell, listen to Bill Simmons, he'll tell you all about the bandwagoners with their green & pink Sawx hats & such.

There has been an outpouring of support for the sox, but if you haven't lived in or around Boston, you haven't seen the true fans that have stuck by the sox for many, many, many years.

I know the love of Boston teams by Bostonians, and I'm not questioning them. What can be seen however, is the statistic that shows the Boston Red Sox have the highest attendance rate on the road in the MLB, and from the looks of Coors Field for the past week, about 1/3 were Boston Red Sox fans, and we can't pretend they are all life long sox fans.

Wait til they get better and win a world series, you'll see the same thing that happened to the sox happen to them.
