LOL ohio state is garbage the National Championship should be FSU vs Auburn

Lets be honest nobody wants to see Ohio State get crushed in the national championship after barely escaping their super easy schedule. Atleast FSU dominated their schedule they need to face a battle tested Auburn team which would be a epic game.

the +1 system is going to be the same issue down the way. the #5, #6, #7, #8 teams will then argue they deserve to be #3/#4. without going to a Div II playoff system, no one will ever be happy, and the system will never work.

cav's suggestion.

4 super conferences divided into 2 divisions (almost there now). the winner of each division advances (with a pending conference championship for seeding). 4 at large bids which would include the mid-major conferences (sunbelt, mwc, wac, mac, etc). the conference runner-ups play the 4 at larges. giving 8 teams in "round 2", 4 in "round 3", and then the NC game. would NEVER happen, as the bowl runners and NCAA wants to make their money off this cashcow, but I see that as the best scenario to find an actual #1.

Agreed, they've already screwed it up. Should add a few more games. I think maybe top 8. Top 4 just seems like someone deserving will be left out.

Top 8 would be a good step in the right direction. However, as basketball has shown, the top 16 could easily be contenders... The big flaw in the top 8 scenario is the ranking system to begin with. I do not follow College Football but I do watch a game every once in awhile. Last weekend I watched as a #6 (OSU) absolutely destroyed a #9 (Baylor) who clearly did not deserve the ranking. Yet Baylor would have been a contender for the #8 spot in an 8 team playoff...

Only problem with playoffs is that it takes some of the fun out of the regular season. You'd have to be a college football fan to get that.

as an avid fan of Div II football, or football on any level for that matter, I completely disagree. having attended GVSU playoff games, they are quite exciting and do NOT at all take away from the regular season experience IMO.
