LOL ohio state is garbage the National Championship should be FSU vs Auburn

31 10 December 2, 2013 at 09:56 AM in Chat
Lets be honest nobody wants to see Ohio State get crushed in the national championship after barely escaping their super easy schedule. Atleast FSU dominated their schedule they need to face a battle tested Auburn team which would be a epic game.

as an avid fan of Div II football, or football on any level for that matter, I completely disagree. having attended GVSU playoff games, they are quite exciting and do NOT at all take away from the regular season experience IMO.
but we wouldn't be on pins and needles now. i think it's exciting! you know how exciting the bcs countdown was the year we played lsu? i think playoffs will for sure take away from the regular season excitement. no way you'll convince me otherwise!

unless you end up like the '04-05 Auburn Tigers. yeah, I am sure it was fun for them. or if Ohio does get leapfrogged (even though they probably should, Aub playing 4 top 10 teams and only losing to 1 on the road) having gone back-to-back undefeated seasons. I am not sure I would use the term "exciting"..

i see where the playoffs are necessary but i do think it takes away from the passion and excitement of the regular season too.

the arbitrary nature and unfairness is not worth the excitement felt by a subset of fans; you would have to have played football or another sport at a competitive level to get that.

i think the excitement of a multi-week playoff would easily offset the slight loss of the "if we lose once, we're basically screwed" tension and one or two more meaningful late-season games that exist in the current system, especially since most major football schools fill half or more of their schedules with embarrassingly easy wins that aren't fun to watch for anyone who isn't a rabid fan of that specific school.

I'm a rabid fan and I get bored watching the blowouts laugh out loud. The games will be exciting for sure in the playoffs! I wish we had it this year actually! It still takes away from the fun and passion of the reg season though. That's all I'm saying!

Yeah, being bored watching blowouts sounds like a great example of fun and passion.

A necessary evil though. The kids have to learn the basic fundamentals to prepare them to play real football someday. It's kind of sad that they don't ever get to earn a real championship though.

With a 24 and 0 record in the last 2 years the Buckeyes have earned their chance to play in the Championship game (after they get by the #1 ranked defense in the country, MSU)

Go Buckeyes!

Told ya months ago we would back in ALVS!
