Amazon closed my account

1,923 199 December 4, 2013 at 05:19 AM
So my wife account on Amazon got closed due "continued to request refunds for a significant number of your orders." Basically we had a baby and she was buying and returning stuff, but still keeping a lot of stuff. But I guess they have there reasons, anyway my account which had the same amazon visa card (sharing rewards) also got closed due to being linked to this account. I had student prime and over all loved my account and had good standings. What can I do now ? From reading around I see that they are using the billing address and/or Credit card/Bank information to link accounts, not the delivery address. This really sucks !

had to quote this, you're joking right? If i have a receipt, EVERY STORE every where for the most part will take the item back. If it's been abused or overly used, that's another story but if you buy something you have 30 days to decide if you wanna keep it or not, or whatever the store's policy is, they can't arbitrarily decline you WITH A RECEIPT if there is nothing wrong with the returned product, if i say i don't want it, they take it back. If i say ummm i just need the cash, they take it back. That's business. Please let me know what store bans you from returning items with a receipt within the 30 days as amazon's? I await your response.
Sorry to jump in, but to add my 2 cents, I believe best buy does something similar and tracks returns etc scanning id and all that and can potentially ban consumers

Amazon also tracks by MAC id and correlates Ip's/Operating systems when linking accounts during bans.. Well at least on the seller side of things

I use multiple IPs and multiple OSes and PCs, they can track mac as that is layer 2 local, unless OS/browser passes this info

They do this if you DONT have a receipt to prevent people from fraud.

My point exactly, they want to kill B&M business, but yet returns are virtually limited. Yes there was no warning and there policy clearly allows returns so yeah I dont know, I understand why they might not like this and all, but banning my account was a bad move.

So does Toys R Us. They have limits even if you have a receipt.

In store they do require a DL and track returns, even with a receipt. They will ban you from making returns if you make too many.

I feel bad! Amazon is cold-gangster about returns. But, the forums will help you find a solution. Sometimes, u have to lol b4 it gets better. Do an account on a library pc using first initials, last name, different address. Maybe, kid shop at marshalls, target, roses, babies r us, walmart, macys, etc.,..plus, clearance sections. Many of US do have kids...

Ode to Brokeback Mtn:2005

Ennis Del Mar-aka- AMAZON.COM: I'm gonna tell you this one time, Jack farkin' Twist, an' I ain't foolin'. What I don't know - all them things that I don't know- could get you killed if I come to know them.I ain't jokin'.

Jack Twist-aka-yozh: Yeah, well try this one,and I'll say it just once!

Ennis Del Mar-aka-Amazon.com: Go ahead!

Jack Twist-aka-yozh: Tell you what, we coulda had a goodlife together! farkin' real good life! Had us a marketplace of our own. But you didn't want it, Ennis! So what we got now is Brokeback AMazon! Everything's built on that! That's all we got, boy, farkin' all. So I hope you know that, even if you don't never know the rest! You count the damn few times we have done returns together in nearly twenty years and you measure the short farking leash you keep me on - and then you ask me about BEST BUY and tell me you'll kill me for needing somethin' I don't hardly never get. You have no idea how bad it gets! I'm not you...I can't make it on a coupla high-altitude SALES once or twice a year! You are too much for me Ennis, you prime, whore, son of a taxing, bitch! I wish I knew how to quit you.

Ennis Del Mar-aka-Amazon.com: [crying] Well, why don't you? Why don't you just let me be? It's because of your indecisions, that I'm like this! I'm nothin'...I'm nowhere... Get those returns off me! I can't stand being like this no more, Jack.

Jack frost-aka-yozh: (pissed) Why do i suffer. Its over for me, 2!!

Almost every retailer has a system to ban the people that do habitual returns these days. BestBuy and GameStop are the 2 that come to mind with the stricter policies that sometimes catch even normal shoppers off-guard.

Amazon prominently displays 365 free returns for all their baby and a lot of kids stuff, apparel etc. It seems odd to so heavily advertise such a policy and yet ban people who actually use it, considering they are only using it because it is being offered as a competitive advantage to shop at amazon to begin with.

That said, it sounds like the OP was using amazon as a rentacenter for everything from bottles to formula while racking up rewards points for items that were subsequently returned...a classic case of this is why we can't have nice things on all fronts.

Best Buy has required ID when returning WITH receipt for a while now. I don't like it but I've only returned one thing that way since they started it. If that's what it takes to get the abusers out, I guess that's how it has to be.

I would HATE to get banned from Amazon. I try not to send things back to them. I either eat the cost or sell it to try and make it up. I return once in a while but that's it. I can think of about three times in as many years or more that I've returned things and I also have about 80 orders from the beginning of the year till now.

In my experience Amazon is VERY lenient with their return policies. They actually just lowered their return shipping to $3.99 for most items. One easy way to get banned is if you routinely select the option of a defective product just to avoid return shipping -- in addition to blatant abuse. I have 250+ orders w/ Amazon per year and probably return 20 items, never had any issues.

Got Caught with what ? really should read the whole story before posting things like that. Just because my wife used the service as advertised ? Or my account sharing a credit card with hers ? I`m not debating, I`m sharing with my community this is a forum for this ! but hey thanks for your feedback.

Well no my wife did not use it as a rent a center. If we bought 20 bottles and they do not fit or used, we shouldnt return them ? I`m a little confused about people not ever returning stuff on this forum, if you buy something for $50 and it doesnt fit or you cant use it, you just leave it as is ? Or try to spend your time to sell it, probably at a loss ? This are SD forums where we try to save $, some times even 50 cents, but yet you guys are saying its ok to eat the cost of an item you are not able to use ? Pretty sure you are on the wrong forums or trying to find 1 specific item and will not use this place again..... With that said, even if amazon is in the right (which I dont fully agree, since we used what they advertised) closing my wifes account, my biggest issue is the closure of my account, which did not have that many returns.

Again thanks for feedback, but please get the whole story

Dude, something is very very wrong if it takes 20 different baby bottles to find one that "fits".... are you sure you have a baby and not a litter of kittens?

Meanwhile, most retailers are tracking returns:

Yes I eat the cost of personal items I am not able to use or don't like.

And seriously, it's not that hard to know the size your baby will need.

You abused the system, sent back used items on a continual basis and got busted.

Waa, Waa, Waa.
