Keurig coffee makers will implement DRM to block third-party coffee

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. But I know a lot of you love your K-cups and I was wondering how you Keurig users would feel about this. I'm unclear how they are going to keep the option open to brew in a Keurig with coffee grounds, unless they are cutting that out, too. Maybe if enough of us raise a stink, they will backtrack? It has worked before on other companies.

I'm surprised someone hasn't mentioned it yet. Surprised and disgusted.

Baton Rouge, LA's finest. If you prefer strong, rich coffee, their dark roast is for you. If you prefer it a little bit lighter, try one of their Medium roast coffees.

They also offer some versions that have a bit of chickory in them, I like that flavor but DH hates it.

No idea on where or not I'd lick chicory.

I ordered some of the french vanilla, some hazelnut and then because I was paying shipping anyway I ordered some dark roast for the office peeps....or to hoard for myself.

yeah, the documentation that came with my press said one tablespoon of whole beans for every 8oz of water, but i think it's closer to one tablespoon of ground beans for every 8oz of water. i've done it enough now that i don't use the scoop; i just know how much should be in the hopper of my grinder. i don't measure the water; i put a lot in the kettle, fill the press to where i know it should be, and put the rest in my tumbler to warm it up while the grounds are steeping.

Moon: i know you didn't come in here to get tips on french press, but if others are having problems, these are some tips you might try.
  • try using different ratios of water to ground beans.
  • as others have said, ensure you're using the coarsest grind available.
  • make sure the water you're adding is just under boiling. i get mine boiling in a teakettle, set it aside on the stove, grind my beans, put them in the press, then pour in the water. it probably sits for less than 30 seconds from a rolling boil to when i it meets the beans.
  • let it steep for a good 4-5 minutes. a lot of places i saw recommended less than that, but 4:30 is what seems to work best with my setup/preferences.
  • i stir mine every minute or so while it's steeping. my grinds tend to gather on top initially and fall as they get soaked through, so stirring 3-4 times ensures they get mixed well in the water.
Not that I don't appreciate the coffee tips, but I use 6oz of water for five scoops of coarse grounds. I have tried different beans and different timing, and can not get it strong enough for my taste. However, at my mom's house I put her Keurig on 6oz and out comes a perfect cup of coffee. I like my coffee strong.

Five scoops of coarse grounds is a lot of grounds. I have done the math by weight, and if I use good beans that is about sixty cents worth of coffee grounds for one weak and terrible 6 oz cup of coffee, per day.

I do not have $500 for an espresso maker. And I refuse to leave the house just for a cup of coffee.

I wonder if the Bialetti that was so reliable was the mocha pot, and not the model with the special nozzle. The nozzle model is a lot pricier, and when it's metal handle broke off, I decided to stop fussing with it, which led to getting my french press.

I have an early morning class coming up, next month, and I am looking forward to getting my cuppa at the press of a button.

well, there goes your validity on ricotta cheese in lasagna.
Is he for or against it? Lasagna isn't lasagna without ricotta cheese! You might as well make it without tomato sauce. laugh out loud
