Keurig coffee makers will implement DRM to block third-party coffee

94 105 March 3, 2014 at 06:11 PM in News (4)
I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. But I know a lot of you love your K-cups and I was wondering how you Keurig users would feel about this. I'm unclear how they are going to keep the option open to brew in a Keurig with coffee grounds, unless they are cutting that out, too. Maybe if enough of us raise a stink, they will backtrack? It has worked before on other companies.

Faint

That stuff is delicious! You can't have lasagna without it. Also a spinach-onion-ricotta mixture stuffed in chicken breasts and baked is pretty damn awesome, too. yummy

Sick Yeah, I just had lasagna for the first time ever just a month ago. And I barely touched it. Ate a bit more of it last time we had it though. I think ricotta is one of those things that will have to grow on me - it's just really weird. I'm used to cheese being melty and gooey, not dry and nasty laugh out loud

I am trying to get used to "new" foods! I'm just not good at it Sick

OMG, are you serious?! EEK!

Are you one of those poor, unfortunate souls that grew up on chicken nuggets and mac and cheese? Comfort

Saute half an onion and a couple cloves of garlic, add in 10oz spinach (fresh or thawed frozen, doesn't matter), season with salt and pepper (or whatever else strikes your fancy), allow to cool, mix with a cup of ricotta and stuff in raw chicken breasts. Then liberally season chicken (I sometimes coat in bread crumbs, too) and bake 35-45 minutes, until chicken is cooked through. It's one of my favorite ways to cook chicken!

Not that I don't appreciate the coffee tips, but I use 6oz of water for five scoops of coarse grounds. I have tried different beans and different timing, and can not get it strong enough for my taste. However, at my mom's house I put her Keurig on 6oz and out comes a perfect cup of coffee. I like my coffee strong.

Five scoops of coarse grounds is a lot of grounds. I have done the math by weight, and if I use good beans that is about sixty cents worth of coffee grounds for one weak and terrible 6 oz cup of coffee, per day.

I have an early morning class coming up, next month, and I am looking forward to getting my cuppa at the press of a button.
I've had a few cups (different brands) of coffee from a Keurig and none of it was strong. Perhaps you're confusing strong with dark roast or bitter/acidic coffee?

Something is terribly, terribly wrong with this picture.
yeah, there's a disconnect somewhere. 6oz of water would be about enough to soak into 5 spoonfuls of grounds and make a paste. maybe it was supposed to be 6 cups of water for 5 spoonfuls of grounds? that might border on weak, and they do make 51oz presses.

if i remember back to when i still measured, i think i used 8-9 tablespoons of whole beans for my 32oz press and didn't fill it all the way to the top. i prefer my coffee on the strong side as well, and after filtering, the above process leaves coffee i can only barely see any light through when held in front of bright sunlight.

eh, everyone should just use what they prefer. Keurigs are convenient and consistent, but i kind of like the process and control of the french press.

I like peas.

I like carrots.

I like coffee.

I like lasagna.

I do not like chicken nuggets. It's pieces and parts and the name always makes me think of chicken testicles. Sick

A french press is messy. A regular coffee brewer is messy. I like my Keurig.

None of the above adds any value to this thread whatsoever. I just wanted to be included. laugh out loud
