I didn't realize you can post things like this in The Lounge.... Which car should I get (or which cars should I definitely take off my long list)?

I know I am all over the place with my current options, but I'm looking to get a new car in a couple months and I can't seem to focus.

In no specific order:

  1. Lincoln MKZ - I was initially thinking of the Hybrid initially, but plugging in my car (and remembering to do so) seems like too much trouble. laugh out loud
  2. Cadillac ATS - 0% financing for up to 72 months is very attractive, but that might end at the end of April
  3. Volvo S60 - the first brand new car I ever got was a Volvo (many, many years ago)
  4. Lexus ISC - everyone needs a convertible, no?
  5. Mercedes CLA250
  6. Mercedes C250
  7. BMW 328i - I believe this is mandatory on all car lists. Dontknow
  8. Lexus ES350

To prove how all over the place I am (and was), I even considered looking at the 2015 Hyundai Genesis for maybe 10 minutes. Roll

Updated list:

2014 BMW 328i Sedan
2014 Mercedes-Benz C250 C250 Luxury Sedan
2014 Audi A4 4dr Sdn Auto quattro 2.0T Premium
2014 Volvo S60 4dr Sdn T5 Premier AWD
2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0L I4 AWD
2014 Infiniti Q50 AWD (just because MLV feels I've short changed Infinitis and I should give them a shot)

Honorable mention:
2014 Lincoln MKZ 4dr Sdn AWD

I think you'd need the Premium package, plus Navigation. Will be less than BMW, Mercedes, or Audi for the equipment you'll get.

I'm looking at new leftover G37s...might see if I can get a deal on a 2013 new - there are quite a few of those. That's what I did with my Acura TL (bought a new 2006 in late 2006, after the 2007s were out). If I get one, it would have to be about what I could sell it on my own, like under $30k. Not sure that will happen w/Premium and Nav, but I might try.
I just looked at the G37 and that might be a better bet. With the Nav and Premium package it is less than the base of the Q50 Premium without the $9k of other options I'd want with it. Although it is a 2013. Scratchchin

Infinity automobiles seem to have a lot of gadgets/features. G37 or Q50, can't go wrong.

G37's last year was 2013...local dealer has a ton of new '13s.

But pricing isn't where I had hoped; already heard back. Looking at $32k for Premium (has just about everything except Nav); add $2k for Navigation. You get a lot for that, and a very fun car. But I don't think I want to spend that much. Still, I might get my TL appraised at CarMax, to get an idea of what it might fetch.

Thanks! Although I didn't readily see blind spot monitoring. Dontknow Once you drive in a car with blind spot monitoring, you don't want to go back IMHO.

Being it's last year scares me a little more now. laugh out loud

It would be like getting a Volvo C70 now. If it's that great of a car, why stop production??

Convertible sales are down in general. I'm guessing it's just not that profitable.
I like ours, though there's more cowl shake than with our previous VW Eos convertible.

The Infiniti G37 will become the new Q40...probably the same engine even. I wouldn't be concerned myself. I'd much rather buy the last year of a tried-and-test model/engine/transmission, than the first year of a major redesign. That's one of my hesitations with the new Acura TLX

I'm unfortunately not as familiar with Infinitis, so I look at it a little differently. Even still, I might have to take them off my list simply because I wanted to stay in the mid 30s for my base price and although 5, 10 or even 20k more won't be the end of the world, I have to draw the line somewhere. Plus that would make me research higher models from all the manufacturers. LMAO

We'll see if my friend was kidding with his offer to go on test drives with me when I ask him to go on 8 test drives with me over a weekend. Roll Although since I'm only going to fall asleep driving in the car, I probably just have to see how comfy the driver's seat is and won't even have to start the engines.

You think you're gonna get an Audi, BMW, or Mercedes with all the features you want in the mid 30s? Options really add up on the entry-level luxury models.

Not at all. The base MSRP will be in the mid 30s. I know the options will then bring me up to 40 - 43. Then there's bargaining because Joey D does not pay MSRP. Nono

do people really care about their car badges that much that a manuf warranty will cover it? I have de-badged my last 2 cars. a cleaner look IMO.
Of course. How else will people know what kind of car you have? Whee

Looks like a 328i with all the stuff you're looking for (Premium, Tech, Nav, etc) is about $50k MSRP; dealer invoice is about $46k; kbb.com Fair Purchase Price is almost $47k.

BMW may be off my list because I can get a loaded Cadillac ATS Luxury for $10k less (before haggling) with 0% financing for up to 72 months.

I've considered the ATS, but not sure I can bring myself to look seriously at Cadillac. I'm not THAT old, dammit!
Not sure about the ATS' reliability, either.

May I suggest attempting to import a Fiat Multipla? It has the ATS and Q50 beat on many levels. You can thank me later.
