I didn't realize you can post things like this in The Lounge.... Which car should I get (or which cars should I definitely take off my long list)?

I know I am all over the place with my current options, but I'm looking to get a new car in a couple months and I can't seem to focus.

In no specific order:

  1. Lincoln MKZ - I was initially thinking of the Hybrid initially, but plugging in my car (and remembering to do so) seems like too much trouble. laugh out loud
  2. Cadillac ATS - 0% financing for up to 72 months is very attractive, but that might end at the end of April
  3. Volvo S60 - the first brand new car I ever got was a Volvo (many, many years ago)
  4. Lexus ISC - everyone needs a convertible, no?
  5. Mercedes CLA250
  6. Mercedes C250
  7. BMW 328i - I believe this is mandatory on all car lists. Dontknow
  8. Lexus ES350

To prove how all over the place I am (and was), I even considered looking at the 2015 Hyundai Genesis for maybe 10 minutes. Roll

Updated list:

2014 BMW 328i Sedan
2014 Mercedes-Benz C250 C250 Luxury Sedan
2014 Audi A4 4dr Sdn Auto quattro 2.0T Premium
2014 Volvo S60 4dr Sdn T5 Premier AWD
2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0L I4 AWD
2014 Infiniti Q50 AWD (just because MLV feels I've short changed Infinitis and I should give them a shot)

Honorable mention:
2014 Lincoln MKZ 4dr Sdn AWD

I love my G37x and would recommend it or the newer Q50 to anyone. You can't really beat it performance wise for the price imo. BMW you have to go to the 335 before you get comparable performance for ~$10k more.

Wouldn't have a Lexus, they're overpriced for what you get.

Thanks. I will check out the Infinitis when I'm ready to test drive.

That was more of an "asking for permission" thing, but if you were up your own arse, you'd know it.

I've considered the ATS, but not sure I can bring myself to look seriously at Cadillac. I'm not THAT old, dammit!
Not sure about the ATS' reliability, either.
Alright, you put the bug in my ear. What do you think about the 2014 Acura TL with Advance Package?

I like the Acura TL's. New model coming out soon though, TLX. Should be able to snag a 2014 TL for cheaper once the 2015 hits the lots.

Also, Toyota just announced it's new Camry design(I know what you are thinking). Take a look at the pics though of the XSE model. I think looks rather nice, think it will make my short list at end of year when I look.

I absolutely HATE the exterior of the 2009-2014 model, as do many others (hence their poor sales figures). But I suspect it's a great car to drive. I just can't get over the styling so I've never driven one. I've gotten used to the front grille style somewhat, but the rear of the 09-14 TL remains hideous IMO. The '15 TLX rear is similar to the current ILX and RLX - not great, but better than the outgoing TL.

I think you are the first person I have come across that actually likes the current TL. laugh out loud

Thanks!

The new Camry does look sharp, but.... it is still a Camry. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's sort of like the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. Although on paper they both look like great cars, at least the Camry's base MSRP should be substantially less than the cars on my current list. FYI the base MSRP for the 2015 Genesis is actually higher than the 328i or I believe any of the other cars on my list and I'd still need to add some options to it.

Thanks! To be honest, I only looked at a side picture of the TL on my phone and I didn't find it that attractive. I just figured it can't hurt to branch out on my search.

FYI I don't really care about sales figures, but I do care if they discontinue a car. laugh out loud

Still lots of cars to ponder. nod

Peter: (reading his tax refund) Oh my god, it's better than I thought. An Audi! I'm gettin' a car!
Brian: Uh, Peter, there's a "t" in there. That says "audit".
Peter: No, Brian, it's a foreign car... the "t" is silent. (pauses) Sweet, I'm gettin' an Audi!
Chris: (lifting up his shirt and staring at his bellybutton) I have an innie.

Most of the stuff you listed is a snooze-fest. I would get something sporty. If you had to choose, drive the 328i, Q50, and ATS - at least those are a little engaging. What have you actually driven so far?

Absolutely none of them. Blush Roll

I know if I go to test drive any of them, I will likely buy one of them that weekend, so I'm trying to dwindle down my list until I'm ready to buy.
