I didn't realize you can post things like this in The Lounge.... Which car should I get (or which cars should I definitely take off my long list)?

I know I am all over the place with my current options, but I'm looking to get a new car in a couple months and I can't seem to focus.

In no specific order:

  1. Lincoln MKZ - I was initially thinking of the Hybrid initially, but plugging in my car (and remembering to do so) seems like too much trouble. laugh out loud
  2. Cadillac ATS - 0% financing for up to 72 months is very attractive, but that might end at the end of April
  3. Volvo S60 - the first brand new car I ever got was a Volvo (many, many years ago)
  4. Lexus ISC - everyone needs a convertible, no?
  5. Mercedes CLA250
  6. Mercedes C250
  7. BMW 328i - I believe this is mandatory on all car lists. Dontknow
  8. Lexus ES350

To prove how all over the place I am (and was), I even considered looking at the 2015 Hyundai Genesis for maybe 10 minutes. Roll

Updated list:

2014 BMW 328i Sedan
2014 Mercedes-Benz C250 C250 Luxury Sedan
2014 Audi A4 4dr Sdn Auto quattro 2.0T Premium
2014 Volvo S60 4dr Sdn T5 Premier AWD
2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0L I4 AWD
2014 Infiniti Q50 AWD (just because MLV feels I've short changed Infinitis and I should give them a shot)

Honorable mention:
2014 Lincoln MKZ 4dr Sdn AWD

If I was considering any of those models I would consider the model up. For instance, the 335i instead of the 328i or the S4 instead of the A4. IMO it's worth the extra money for the extra fun factor and once you go with something with power you will never go back to a sluggish car.

Speak for yourself. If this wasn't 1600 miles away from me I would be bidding on it. laugh out loud

I had a '76 Luv back in the 80s and it was the second most sluggish vehicle I have ever owned (the first was a '77 Fiat X19 two-seat convertible). The Luv ranks right up at the top of the most fun vehicles I have owned though, especially on ice and snow. It would fit anywhere and wouldn't get stuck because it didn't have enough power to spin the tires. At some point it would just sort of bog down and stop moving but since you didn't dig a hole by spinning the tires or make ice under the tires in the winter you could always just back up and try again.

Mine was a two wheel drive and I would follow my buddies with their 4-wheel drives in the woods. While they were struggling with the mud holes I was weaving through the trees on high ground to go around them. The one above is a four wheel drive and would be awesome. I don't know if I would still fit behind the wheel any more though. Sadwalk

I went and checked out an X19 some years back. I decided it wasn't meant for someone my height. It made my Super Beetle seem roomy by comparison.

UPDATE:

I went on a test driving spree this weekend and as I mentioned I'd buy quick. I did and bought the..............Cadillac ATS. OMG I am more shocked than anyone, but no other car besides the Volvo S60 had everything I was looking for, but I despised the Volvo dealership, sales people and manager with all my being and the next closest Volvo dealer was way too far away to go for service.

The dealer I went with gave me $2,000 to $3,000 more for my trade than any dealer. They also showed me that they charged me the invoice price (and I confirmed it) and they gave me $2,500 allowance and $1,500 Conquest allowance. Plus on top of all that for 4 years any oil changes, inspections or maintenance are included (everything but tires and brakes) and even for inspections or oil changes they will come to my house or office and bring me a loaner, so I never have to step into their service department if I don't want to. FYI their service department, waiting area and the entire dealership was by far the most impressive dealership I've even been to.

BTW the Mercedes CLA was by far the sexiest/sportiest of the cars I looked at, however there was no rear seat room. I couldn't even sit up straight in the back seat and I'm only 6'1". Plus Mercedes doesn't allow or install remote starts (which I love and need) without voiding the warranty.

So my search is over. Whee

As long as you have a decent dealer near you, you should go for it. But if you want push you in the back of your seat power in a 4 cylinder (yeah I said it) and don't mind a tight rear seat, you might want to take the Mercedes' for a spin.

Either way, for the crazy deal I got and how amazing it drives, I have no regrets with my new baby.
