One of these days I'm going to regale my grandkids with tales about how Typing was a prerequisite before taking Computers when I was in junior high, and the Typing class was taught with typewriters laugh out loud

Poor kids, if they ever had to actually use a manual, non-electric typewriter. They'd probably complain about how hard the buttons are to push.

Well, they were electrics, at least laugh out loud
I have used one of those, though.

We used twigs and berries to do binary when I was a kid. But that was still when we were doing punch cards on slate stones.

We had Manual typewriters in 7th Grade.

I remember the horror in my soul when I walked in to find that ALL THE KEYS had been covered with WHITE bandage tape!!!! EEK!

Our teacher just had us tape a piece of paper to the typewriter, and it went over your hands. Then you got in trouble if you were caught looking.
I made money in high school typing reports for people laugh out loud

Not a bad idea, and less mess to clean up after the semester is over.

I type OK for the most part, but prefer the 10 Key over the numeric keys over the qwerty row.

I never got great at the QWERTY numbers, but I can bang out sequences on the num pad all night long.

Dirty nerdy talk.

I was a BK Manager for a few years and counted many a cash till, and that 10 key was my best friend bulb

So being used to the 10 key made it harder to be motivated to use the number keys instead of the 10 key.

Bejusus - when I had typing class there were no letters on the keys - up on a screen in front of the class were the letters - that way you had to look up and not down at the typewriter laugh out loud After we learned how to type the letters properly, we had to type to the tune of Camp Town Races Rofl2 in order to type in a steady progression. The thing I hated most was when we did envelopes and they would actually measure with a ruler, the mailing address to ensure it was correctly placed. I would think to myself, what business is going to go to this time and trouble Scratchchin they just want the damn envelope addressed EEK!

I hated that we also had to run tapes twice with the calculator when I already knew I had the correct total Frown I thought it a ridiculous waste of my time, and refused to do it Nono2 I was a trouble maker in these classes for sure, because somethings were just stupid shake head

And yes, I learned how to program cards for the punch card system; it was still around then, but obsolete by the time I graduated Mad Again, a stupid thing they made us do Censored

In maybe Elementary school I remember kids having to take home keyboards to practice typing on. I was lucky because my parents had a typewriter! Whee

For me, the number pad became more useful than the row above qwerty thanks to my jobs. Lots of part/drawing numbers - so it was just so much quicker to type on the number pad instead.
